cabin beds- aspace - good quality?

DH and I were planning to get the aspace southside cabin bed for DD (3.3), but thought it looked flimsy in the shop when we visited over the weekend...sort of wobbled, though the saleswoman assured us it was just a wonky floor model. Does anyone have any thoughts on aspace quality - anyone have the southside?

I also found the kid's window site thanks to mumsnet searching Grin - but wonder about their quality, too. It's not a cheap item, after all - we're hoping for something that can withstand a jumping bean toddler!

We bought an Oundle single bed from them 2 years ago, it looked fairly good quality in the catalogue but we were very disappointed with the quality when it arrived. We put it together, moved it to get it into place and it came apart. Customer service was very poor. It was the week before Christmas, lots of hassle getting through to somebody who then said they couldn't replace for at least 8 weeks. Dh fixed it with some metal brackets and it lasted 18 months before coming apart altogether.

I Will never, ever shop there again although I love the look of everything. Have to keep reminding myself looks arn't everything.

Forgot to say, it was from Aspace Smile

We have a midsleeper from them which we have had about a year. Seems v good quality and we have taken it half apart to move it and put it back together again and it still seems v solid.

Also got coco bunk bed two weeks ago and we love it. Solid and sturdy.

The only thing we have that seems slightly wobbly is oundle wardrobe. It looks lovely but just seems slightly uneven. Our floor is on a v slight slope though so it may just be that.

Just looked at website. The midsleeper we have is the key west one. It has had my nearly six year old using it since last January, and has put up with him, his friends, and our four year old twins jumping on it and still looks great. Has now been passed to four year old daughter as boys have moved into bunk bed.

thanks for the input. We've been going back and forth about which bed to get for ages - she'll be a teenager before we decide!

We have the new England bunk beds and they are fab sturdy and easy to split into two singles. I would not recommend the mattress though, my 7 year old has had it for two years and you can feel the springs. I just bought a memory foam mattress topper for it. The mattresses were on offer with the bunk and were the base models. Poor quality but the bunks are great and they sent a new side length free of change as the screw thread things for the ladder where slightly loose after i had split the bunks a year later. I did consider the oundle but it is the 'basic' range and they lady on the phone did say that it was not as good quality as the new England etc.

Sorry for garbled reply but hth

We have the jack and Jill bunk beds and have had them for 8 years. They have been taken apart and put back together about four times at least due to house moves and are still rock solid. Grin

That said, I suspect that their earlier stuff was better quality. They've changed the design of the j and j bunks and put stupid flimsy spindles on them now. I'm guessing they are trading on their earlier good stuff and that's it's shoddier these days. Like Boden.

My dd has the anastasia bed from Aspace. Was a bit of a nightmare. Arrived and had big scratches in the wood, they collected it swiftly but took absolutely ages to sort out a replacement. The people I spoke to on the phone were really nice, polite, apologetic but ultimately didnt seem to able to sort anything out. However, when we did get the replacement I was really pleased with it, good solid sturdy bed. They also offered to send me a quilt cover set of my choice as a good will gesture and I pushed my luck and asked for a rug (which was £120 i think) and they sent that to me as well! Result!

Good on you, Squitch! I just bit the bullet and ordered the cabin bed from them plus two bookcases...
