I see there are other threads with similar title but I am after a new full size hoover? anyone know what's scoring well with Which at the moment? I currently have a Bissel but it's losing suction. Not sure about the expense of bags rather than bagless. I saw a thread the other day where someone was estastic about their new hoover.

Bluebell99 · 26/01/2012 09:28

Miele - I have had mine for 15 years and it is still going strong.

PinotMN · 26/01/2012 14:41

Ahhh good I was hoping for one of these threads. My Dyson is losing suction.

PigletJohn · 26/01/2012 15:07

It is much easier to find a good cylinder (just buy a Miele, though there are also some good Bosch and Siemens)

But "Which" best buy uprights are (best first)

Miele Allervac (Power Plus) S7280 £259

Miele S 7210 Black £190

Miele S 7210 £190

(I think I'm seeing a pattern here)

Sebo and Dyson did not score as high, though they are still in the table.

The lowest priced Best Buy Uprights are (cheapest first)

Samsung SU8860 Flexiclean £109

AEG Nimble A8602AZ £113

Bluebell99 · 26/01/2012 16:56

Thank you PigletJohn, that's really helpful. Why do you think it is easier to find a good cylinder?

because the "good cylinders" list is filled top the brim with Mieles!

Also I suppose they are simpler with fewer moving parts, no beaters to wear out or jam. Once a manufacturer has got the hang of designing and building a good motor and filters, the rest of it is probably getting reliabilty and styling right.

Miele bags are rather expensive though. I sometimes buy a batch on fleabay.

Bluebell99 · 26/01/2012 18:53

Thank you PigletJohn. I have become used to bagless because of my Bissel and prior to that a dyson. The Bissel does fill up with a lot of dust, i am always emptying it so I am thinking that I would be forever buying bags. Was there a best bagless category by any chance?! Thanks for your help.

Henry! Had ours for years. Never gone wrong. VERY strong suction, use it to clean the patio in Autumn. Builders used it when we had works done. Very long lead on it so plug in once and you don't need to move it around.

Honeydragon · 26/01/2012 20:50

Miele!

I have a Dyson d33 multifloor upright

and

A Miele Cat & Dog Cylinder.

The Miele pisses all over it. In fact the Dyson always look a bit embarrassed to be in the same cupboard as the Miele.

PigletJohn · 26/01/2012 21:23

I don't like bagless myself, I don't like looking at dirt, or inhaling it when emptied.

The bagless best buys (best first) were:
Bosch BGS6225GB Pet Hair & Carpet £160 76% (cylinder)

AEG-Electrolux UltraActive AUA 3840T £210 75% (cylinder)

AEG Supercyclone ASC6940 £160 75% (cylinder)

Dyson DC25 Ball Animal £233 71% (upright)

Dyson DC23 Motorhead £356 71% (cylinder)

Dyson DC25 Multi Floor £223 70% (upright)

The best buy cylinders with bags scored about 80%. This is a considerably better score than the Dysons. The upright Mieles scored 76%

Busyoldfool · 26/01/2012 22:34

I had a Vax cylinder from 1991 - 2010 and it was brilliant until the motor finally gave out. Now have a Dyson upright ball but tbh haven't been that impressed. Find the hose is so tight/ springy that it takes a fair amount of strength to hold it to clean under things/ up high. Is extremely difficult to do stairs with it and quite hard to do anything other than an expanse of floor. The ball is great for corners and swishing up and down but does not fit under beds/ furniture. No technical issues though, (in 2 yrs).

Bluebell99 · 27/01/2012 09:58

Thanks again. I had started to veer towards Dyson again so it is helpful to hear you are not impressed Busyoldfool. I like the look of the Sebo Felix. I will have a look at the ones on your list PigletJohn. Thank you.

Miele everytime in either upright or cylinder.

MissHonkover · 28/01/2012 14:08

Sebo for me, upright version. Really long cable, goes happily from wooden floor to rug and back again.

waitingforskinnyjeanstofit · 29/01/2012 07:03

I positively love my Sebo.
