Having a shower and cleaning it at the same time

What do you use? I'm thinking that my normal anti-bac/Viakal won't be that skin friendly. I'm trying to find ways of doing more cleaning that doesn't take up lots of time, and I remember some people on MN talking about cleaning the shower whilst they're in there.

I do this (was fed up of getting bleach on my clothes, and much easier than leaning in and doing it clothed whilst trying not to get wet) and use Asda Eco Multisurface cleaner (I use it for everything).

DP does it using normal stuff (I buy Flash, he buys whatever is cheap in the pound shop) and claims never to have been burnt. I am waiting for the day I hear screams from the shower but OTOH he lived by himself for ten years before we moved in together so if it was going to happen it probably would have happened by now... maybe?

I have rinsed the shower (he left it for me) and it was okay - I didn't burn my feet, which is what I was worried about. Maybe use normal stuff but wear flip flops?

Seona1973 · 20/01/2012 14:30

I just use the normal stuff. I clean when the water is still running so it all gets washed away (or I have very clean feet!)

CavemanDave · 20/01/2012 16:02

In theory you could use shower gel - obv. not your vair naice stuff but summat cheap and cheerful. Should do just the same job as a proper cleaning spray. Or Stardrops is pretty gentle - you can wash your smalls in it according to the bottle.

Beaverfeaver · 20/01/2012 22:43

The method bathroom cleaner is natural ingredients so not harmful to breath, have on your skin or wash down the drain into the rivers.

I love the smell and can clean the show whilst in it without worrying about my health

lucidlady · 20/01/2012 23:24

I use an e-cloth. If its particularly grim, I use Bath Power , which is chemical free. Haven't had any accidents yet!

farrowandballs · 22/01/2012 00:14

I use an Enjo bathroom mitt whil I'm in and then spray with Method shower spray stuff afterwards. Comes up lovely and smells divine.

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2012 00:27

I have Cillit Banged my feet on many on occasion but I now use Method. Smile

CazFev · 22/01/2012 00:42

I do this! Ecover products are nice and gentle... I do tend to use Flash though... you don't get that much on you with the water running. You could wear crocs also if you are worried. :-) x

AmethystMoon · 22/01/2012 08:39

Method for me too, the shower one is great especially if other users can be trained to squirt it around after they shower and also the method lavender general purpose cleaner is fab too Smile

savoycabbage · 22/01/2012 08:40

I use jif and a washing up brush.

OlympicEater · 22/01/2012 22:30

Washing up liquid on DHs sponge, then squeegee comes up sparkling

Alphafemale · 22/01/2012 22:54

God, I can't think of anything more depressing than thinking that getting into a shower / bath means I should clean it as well!

Don't do it!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 22/01/2012 23:20

I don't do this all that often, but when I do I use Bath Power. I've never really worried about getting injured, what with all the running water.

multipoodles · 23/01/2012 10:24

I time it so somebody else is getting into the shower! I apply lots of flash, diluted bleach or whatever is at hand, and as they are heading into the bathroom I declare the shower is being cleaned and would they be a dear and rinse off for me when they've finished their shower!

Ribeno · 23/01/2012 14:18

I do this. I use cillit bang I'm not worried as there is always running water (i leave it on for a few moments to work and then get in with running water to rinse off while i scrub. Ive never had a bad reaction.

empirestateofmind · 23/01/2012 14:28

I use jiff and a sponge and squeejee it all off with lots of water. Then I wash me as usual. Works fine.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/01/2012 14:31

I use ecloths after I shower, quick wipe and a quick polish. I'd hardly call it cleaning but the shower is sparkling. A quick swipe every day and that is pretty much all you ever need to do.

mazzi2fly · 23/01/2012 14:32

I use Cif and a washing up sponge, then rinse the tiles off with the shower.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 23/01/2012 17:41

Thanks everyone! What's an ecloth?

Flyingoutofcontrol · 23/01/2012 17:49

E-Cloths are brilliant!

Just started using them myself and now use them everywhere

See here for info.

Microfibre cloths are similar, but e-cloths are superior IMO.

PigletJohn · 23/01/2012 19:47

save up for a water softener. Soap dissolves better with no scum, and there are no limescale watermarks.
