Something like a steam mop?

Firstly to explain: we have the most annoying kitchen floor. We rent, so we can't do anything about it, but it's a kind of stone floor with no finish or seal to the top of it, so it's got a rough feel to it. Great for stopping DS slipping over when he wearing socks, not so great when it comes to cleaning.

If you put any kind of cloth or textile anywhere near it, it just shreds and leaves more of a mess than before, with lots of little fibres everywhere. So we can't use kitchen towels, jay cloths, tea towels or anything like that, and the worst thing is we can't use a mop. Currently our cleaning consists of sweeping/hoovering regularly, and occasionally scrubbing at it with a brush ? but this then takes forever to dry. It's also a real faff so I admit to putting it off for longer than I should.

I thought I was saved when I saw a steam mop for sale that had what looked like bristles at the bottom, but some research taught me that they actually tend to have a cloth over the bottom of them, which rules them out again. Does anyone know if there's anything kind of like this though, that could clean my floor easily without any kind of cloth or fibre? All help appreciated!

Rubber brush.

Would something like this be any good? You could use it to scrub the floor then use a string mop to dry the surface.

I have a stone floor and I use commercial string mops. Havn't found anything else as good. Something like this String mop.

A string mop won't work ? it would just leave fibres over the floor ? but the rubber brush could be a good idea. Less labour intensive than down on my knees with a scrubbing brush! Thanks.
