cos I luffs you Grin

Microwave oven.

I have the most terrible luck with microwaves. They never last more than 18 months! Hmm

Can you recommend a really great microwave that won't die the second it's out of warranty?

ta.

You do realise they all know and occasionally allow you a sense of relief for 3 weeks before going wrong, no matter which one you have?Grin

CMOTDibbler · 17/01/2012 20:25

I'm the same with kettles. I just buy the cheapest that does all I need now - same with microwaves

Sharp Quartz grill. 15 years and counting, expensive but worth it.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2012 20:27

I have a Panasonic one which has so far lasted four and a half years Smile

Ta Maryz. What can I say? I'm needy and I require mumsnet's input in order to make even minor household purchases Grin

Don't say that SNF. I'm hoping there's a magic microwave out there that isn't programmed by the manufacturers to explode the day after the 1 yr warranty runs out!

CMOT - I'm like that with jukeboxes in pubs. I was banned from operating the one in my local (years ago, before I was married, when I spent so much of my money in the pub that I should have just asked for my salary to be paid directly to the White Hart!). Seriously. The landlord banned me. I didn't do anything wrong and he knew I wasn't doing anything to it. Me just going near it was enough for it to break down.

We've got this and it hasn't blown up yet. It's fab. Has lasted 8 years so far and makes amazingly 'proper' jacket potatoes with the metal plate thingy.

BeaOnSea · 17/01/2012 20:40

My microwave is so old (I think about 20 years) I bought it at Rumbelows!

I bet there are young MNers who have never even heard of Rumbelows.

I think it might be leaking radioactive waves though as it makes my tinternet go funny when it is on.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2012 20:44

Hmm maybe you have some weird electromagnetic thingy going on which blows them all up Wink

JustHecate yes. I bought it when I lived in a rented flat and the cooker was rubbish. It was over £100 15 years ago, but I have never had a moment's trouble with it and it shows no sign of dying on me.
