Basic Weekly plan

Hi there,

I'm a SAHM, with 4 kids. 2012 has got to be my year of getting organised. I've ordered a menu planner/shopping list for my fridge. I now need to tackle the housework organisation! I need a basic weekly plan to follow, if anyone would be kind enough to share theirs.

Many thanks,

Liz

Do you have an iPhone? If so I can recommend the HomeRoutines app (I've become a bit of an addict!)

No, I don't sorry!

Start by puting into each day what needs to be done out of the house, school run, play groups that type of thing. Then see what time you have available each day and alot the following basic jobs into them.

Change beds, dust, hoover, clean bathrooms, clean kitchen, sweep and mop hard floors.
These jobs need doing once a week, (maybe hoover a bit more and give the toilets a quick clean every few days)

Do 1 load of washing a day. I put a load in on an evening, and then take it out in the morn. Iron and put away the days washing every evening.

Then do one big job per week, things like wash down paintwork, clean tiles, clean inside windows and mirrors, move furniture to hoover under. These jobs only need doing every once in a while so if they go on rotation they end up getting done every 6 weeks ish.

Also keep on top of the kitchen as you go. I have a dishwasher, but even so when I start to cook I fill the sink with hot soap water and wipe things down as I go and wash the odd bit that doesn't go in the dishwasher. If I'm standing there watching pots boil I will rub the cupboard doors down etc

Before I go to bed I collect up any stray cups, empty the bins and throw the toys in the rough direction of in the toy box.

So it might go like this
M- Change 2 beds, hoover and dust bedrooms
T- Clean bathrooms
W- Change 3 beds, hoover and dust downstairs
T- Clean kitchen and 1 big job
F- Mop floors, run hoover round main areas
S- General tidying/bathrooms a quick once over
S- A bit of decluttering and just genaral daily duties

Your welcome, I'm very good at planning .... if only I could get up and do the bloody jobs Grin

Forrestgump · 17/01/2012 18:26

Lol .... I've got a weekly planner on my notice board in the kitchen, the kids even know Monday - Friday what we are having for tea. Meals are the only organised thing.

Ore, one organised lady!

Feeling rather pleased with myself!!

Day 1 or my 'organised self' going well. Managed to change 3 beds upstaires, and hoover and dust upstaires - all while little one played happily (wondering what on earth Mummy was doing I think!!)

Got my menu planner on the fridge, new diary with 'things to do' list and all paper work up to date and posted off this morning. Yes!!

Thanks for the encouragement to get me started!

Well done!

Thats a great start!!

I think the secret to keeping going is to set reasonable tasks for each day, so that you can get them done rather than being unrealistic - and ending up demoralised that you 'failed' and giving up not that I'm sitting here in squallor having done just that Grin.

Keep up the good work Smile
