Which Vacuum Cleaner

Ladies!
I've just moved to a large dusty 3 level Victorian house with loads and loads of stairs. I currently have a dyson dc25 (the upright one) which is great for hoovering the rooms and carpets, but I'm finding it's just too much effort to drag up and down the stairs. I'm therefore thinking I need a small but powerful cylinder cleaner to do a daily run-around and the stairs. Any recommendations please? Budget is reasonably flexible.

Thanks

yes, This

fab, very light, and cheap at the moment.

I have a Miele cat and dog and rate far superior than a Dyson.

BlackCatsAndPurpleDogs · 17/01/2012 10:38

ooops sorry, just realised you said cylinder which that one is clearly not Blush
Still, buy it anyway, its great!

Kellamity · 17/01/2012 10:42

Why did I use the word superior? It sounds so snooty! But I do think the Miele is better than the Dyson the only downside being you have to buy bags. Smile

I'd second Miele or Sebo. Had a Dyson it was crap definitely a case of not getting what you pay for!

In the Which tests, the Miele outranked all the other cylinders.

It is more difficult, and expensive, to find a really good upright.

IMO Dyson did well because they were fashionable, but there are now too many people around who've had one and have comments on their reliability and VFM.

Thanks - I guess I'll go and check out the miele's! Does it need to be the cat and dog one? Is it more powerful.

I took delivery of my new Sebo this morning.

Absolutely delighted with it! Effortless to use - on board tools are very easy in use, it just glides along. It has a low profile so cleans under furniture easily, and the hose extension will reach all the way up the stairs.

As a widow living alone (no kids or pets) my carpets don't get very dirty, but had got so fed up with my old Dyson which was heavy to lug up and down stairs, decided to retire it to the upstairs, and my new Sebo will be doing duty downstairs. Also, hated emptying the bagless canister, getting covered in dust in the process, so back to bags for me!

Forget the rest, buy the best! The Mercedes of vacuum cleaners!

personally I dont like dysons, they are so heavy, cant carry it up the stairs:-) i saw panasonic has a lot of upright cleaners, for example this one, 2000W, god that is enough for any carpet. and definitely cheaper than some dyson. www.panasonicstore-southampton.co.uk/panasonic-mcug304kp47-upright-vacuum-cleaner-p-299.html

I have that little dyson that sits on each step for cleaning stairs. It's the anti allergy one. I paid €380 for it. It's completely shit.

I'd recommend anything other than a dyson.
