Has anyone used the valet service from miele. It is about £80 and I am not sure whether to do this or buy a new one £200. Mine is about 8 years old and a bit manky especially the brushes. It doesnt work like it used to.

No, but I bought a set of Torx screwdrivers off eBay and took the whole head apart to untangle the hair and dust from round the brushes! That made a huge difference to how well it worked. Obviously that depends how happy you are to take things to pieces....

Ive done that. Brushes are quite worn. It has been through a lot. 3 lots of building work. maybe i should just get a new one.

It sounds like its really getting worn out then, so unless their valeting includes replacing worn parts it would probably be a waste of money. Probably time for a replacement if it's had a hard 8 years!

builders dust is very bad for domestic vacs Sad

if it's likely to happen again, hide your nice one and get a wet-and-dry canister machine with a big pleated filter.

Is it a cylinder or an upright? You can buy replacement brush heads for cylinders.
