Help me, have four weeks to get house organised before DD is born

Introduction

I am 35 weeks pg, I need to:

Declutter
Decorate some small areas
Finish nursery, still some shopping to do for blankets and wall decal
Spring clean

Stock cupboards freezer
Some household administration to take care of.

In the past I have suffered from some sort of domestic bipola disorder either perfect or slides in to KAOS (yes I'm down with the fat fairy). I have in the past been on the fly fledglings thread, which is excellent btw, but feel I'm on serious countdown and need to post huge lists/rants updates so as nice as they are I don't want to clutter their thread.

Please feel free to jump in and suggest, advise, tell me off where you see fit. This house is the only thing that's bothering me at moment.

I feel what I need to do is beyond normal nesting, last time I did spring cleaning and cooking, this time ive started later (scared re earlier pg issues) and seem to have more to do.

It's nice for you to be going out, you haven't stopped all week. Glad ds2 is improving.

I'm 37 weeks on Tuesday cs booked for 14th. It is good to have a date to plan but I am getting scared and moremscared if labour starts, never had any signs or contractions last time. I don't think it's an easy option but it is what I can cope with, I have no faith in myself to have vbac, wish I did but thats how it is for me - I've had two counselling appointments with specialist mw so I'm resolute but scared all the same!

Just rang mw as have had swollen hands, and headaches at night time, she was nearby so came round in 2mins, and has done usual checks all is fine, got all teary was v emotional last night too.

Hope you enjoy your afternoon, and doing something nice.

I like ikea, we have a lot of furniture from there, I'm after some leather dining chairs.

Well I off back to my sorting, bonfire building, hope I've got enough fire lighters to get I'd started it wasn't v successful last time.

I've also emailed DH with a list of jobs he has to help with at weekend.

Hi popped on later than usual. It's my new tactic, work then MN, and DS2 refused to nap this AM, hope it's a one off, I want him to keep to his routine when DC4 comes.
He is much better thanks, back to his old destroying the house mission!
I am starting to get a bit tired and my hip is playing up at the moment but still need to crack on.

Went to Ikea on Saturday, woo hoo. Couldn't get all we wanted as there wasn't enough space in the car, but got lots so have made a good start this morning. Also did a good clean in the kitchen, wiped down all the tiles etc, and got down to a few socks in our washing basket.

Done today;
Took high rail out of DS1's wardrobe,
put shelves into wardrobe,
put up two sheving units,
moved all light boxes into DS1's old room must get DH to do the rest,
put washing on and folded stuff out the dryer,

To do today,
move board games and other boxed toys onto new shelves,
sort out 'action figures' and other general tat into bin, keep and PIL piles,
find the camera ready to take photos for Ebay,
box up 'baby' books to go in the cellar while we decorate,
buy tea and think about shopping list for the week.

You are going to be busy bigeyes! Take care don't knacker yourself too much, save some energy for the baby, and don't forget you have acomplished loads.

bigeyes · 01/02/2012 09:29

Hello, bet you thought I'd disappeared!
Had electrics done yesterday, took ages and was bored and cold with power off so decamped up to my Mums hence no internet.

GTT today, yuck. Then rushed into town to pick up a few bits, left it far too long before eating/drinking and nearly fainted in M&S cafe.
On the brightside bump is measuring normal, was measuring full term by 30 weeks last time due to extra fluid and big baby.
Might actually get to use newborn sized things this time.

Not got much done here,
shredded a mountain of crap from the drawers in the front room, had insurance policies from 2006 Blush
all ikea flat packs are up though can't take all the credit for them,
electrics done but not by me,
just need to pack up toddler furniture and toys and put them in the cellar then ready to take plaster off the chimney breast not looking forward to that.

quickie tea today soup and crusty bread.

Hope all well for you bigeyes, and the blinds arrive safely. Take care.

bigeyes · 02/02/2012 11:21

Arrgggh notso! Thought I was having a rush if DIY bigger house jobs done but you seem to really getting through a lot.

Well done that's some major stuff sorted, and when you have stuff done. It takes time away from stuff you could get on with, and generally disruptive to routine.

Glad your measurements fine, my checks were better but have to go back next week for xtra check, still waiting for bloods to come back. Got newborn clothes out ready for hospital bag, far too many I so want to take more than just suits in, I have a couple of little outfits I'm dying to put her in but may look daft in hospital, have got pj's too! I know I've bought to much overall but I've waited 6 years and it's been nice buying for a girl. Enjoy your newborn outfits I say!

So I did rest yesterday, well, school run x 2 Asda shop inc snacks for hospital bag, and laundry x2 - we never really have a rest/day off do we?

Just been watching 'protecting our children' v sad. I'm off to do:

  • Sort through keep paperwork pile, only pulling out what needs action - like car tax that I've realised ran out two days ago

  • Having cleaned kitchen cupboards and tidied out rubbish, just need to arrange stuff properly.

  • Clean fridge, might do freezer

  • Oven bought more dr power but may leave that for DH.

  • damp dust pictures on wall, rub round paintwork

  • use sticky stuff remover on patio doors.

  • touch up downstairs toilet with paint. Put DIY box away in garage.

Nearly there, after this:

Stain remover on carpets
Vaxing carpets unless I can get someone booked
Clean windows throughout
Outside downstairs windows
Deep clean high level tiles in bathroom
Damp wipe paintwork landing, stairs and living room

Then big snipe to stock up
Normal clean
Laundry
Spa day
Rest
Have baby dd

Cleaner - had cleaner do five hours including some ironing, I don't think she got as much as I do when I'm not pregnant, but she has helped in that it freed me to do oven n freezer. I think it will be good knowing bathrooms get a proper clean weekly, I can wipe I between but my first impression not great. Maybe I'm terribly fussy.

The carpet cleaner guy was fantastic I gave him a tip!

Also had handyman yesterday to do curtain piles n blinds DH just can't do them, was lovely really pulled it altogether.

I have just packed a delivery bag, remainder of stay bag, extra clothes bag for extended stay. I've walked n talked DH through nursery where all stuff is.

I have made sure DH ironed some nice shorts for visit, as pics last time we looked a bit less than our best, you know, no shabby thirst!

I have put clothes out and sportswear for various activities ds is doing, with appropriate swimming bags, changes etc - talked DH through them

Wrote thank you cards for mum who is having ds from 7 am on tues and gift. Cards for ds and DH valentines and have present for ds to wrap.

DH has been brilliant this weekend and done all my last minute niggly bits, ironed all baby clothes I washed, some of which will never ever get ironed again!

He is now cooking the m & s £20 valentine meal deal - steak for my iron stores and I'm even having a sneaky glass of cava.

notso do post and let me know how you are getting on. I'm taking iPad to hospital so will post after birth all being well. Have you finished nursery yet? How have you been, plans for half term? Hope you well. X

notso · 14/02/2012 12:57

Hi bigeyes thinking of you, hope all going well, and that you will be snuggling with your DD very soon!

You certainly have been busy, well done. I bet you are relieved.

I have rather let the side down and been a bit dormant. Have been keeping on top of general stuff but nothing more.

My BP is high now as well so have been warned to take it easy, although how to do that in half term I don't know!

Plaster is off but now FIL's back has gone so have to wait for him before we can progress with Nursery.

Doctor Power is brilliant thanks for the tip with that, have the eraser, foam and oven cleaner!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon xxx

notso · 19/02/2012 18:11

Hello again Bigeyes just wanted to let you know I'm still thinking of you and still working on my decluttering. Hope you are all well.

63 days until EDD!!

bigeyes · 27/02/2012 08:18

Hello notso, sorry for disappearing, I've lurked on breastfeeding threads and that's about it!

My dd is here safely, c section went well overall so is my recovery though frustrating at times i cant do much. Breast feeding has been ok though the last two days...well I'm having to dig deeper let's just say.

DH is back to work tomorrow :( I would like to get in to some sort of daily routine for house n cooking that fits around feeding in demand aha?basically if I can feed dd before school run in am get us all out washed and dressed and pick up ds from school on time I'll be happy. Washing n cooking will be a bonus.

My cleaner...glad its temporary. I don't like having one I've decided, she does help but....oh the difference in standards though least beds are changed and bathrooms done. Her ironing is rubbish and leaves with a meh and cats bum face.

How are you, post your big list and go through see how far you've come add any extra things you've done see whats left to delegate or leave? Mind I must say I felt so calm knowing everything was done in house when I went in.
