For dog hairs... Dyson Ball Animal DC25 or Miele Cat and Dog - or any other suggestions?!

As the title says really, does anybody own a Dyson DC25 Animal (the ball one) or a Miele Cat and Dog. Read good reviews for both but can't choose! Great offers around at the mo in the January sales. I currently have a Dyson Ball DC24 which I love but it's just not sufficient for the dog hair (bought the hoover before the pup!).

Thanks for any advice.

Hi, have one white hairy dog, and one black cat - what was I thinking? Used to have the miele dog and cat hoover, but was still very hard work so finally bit the bullet and got myself a SEBO from John Lewis - I think they are more expensive but think I got mine on offer. If you look on amazon reviews ref miele and sebo you'll see a lot of people rave on Sebos. I keep my miele for upstairs where the dog does'nt go. - the Sebo is heavy I admit.

I've got a Miele and Sebo too! Use the Miele on stairs & car as its cylinder but Sebo (upright) is amazing for carpets and wooden floors. Sebo hose thingy is good - quite often threaten to vacumn up the dogs & cats with it! Expensive, DH thinks its great but I've never fessed up to how much it actually cost!

I have a Miele Cat and Dog - I don't actually have pets but I and 2 of my 3 DDs have long hair Grin It is the knees of the bees, IMHO Grin. The only problem is I have to stop and clean the brushes after hoovering the bathroom, as there is so much hair caught round them. Might not be a problem if your dog's hair is short...

I also like it because I have an old house with lots of nooks and crannies and a bad dustweb problem. I could never be arsed to get out the hose and attachments on my old upright, but don't mind whipping round the ceilings and corners with the cylinder.

Miele for me - nippy and gets into nooks n crannies where the hair balls go on my wooden floors, as well as getting carpets and rugs hair free.

Ooooooh, sebo... forgot about them. Now there's another dilema!! Thanks for the replies x

Anyone else using a sebo pet...? Like the idea of a sebo, not sure which model to splash out on!

I had a conversation with a cleaning lady the other week about what she prefers (as she uses her clients' cleaners). She went for upright every time. I was a bit Hmm as we do have the Miele C+D, and I love it. Having rotating brushes on the end of the pipe is great, and you can completely or partially disassemble them for unwinding/cutting off the long hairs! (Two long-haired humans plus a cat in the household, one human with very long hair)

The cleaner said that for whizzing round furniture without the cylinder catching on every single table/chair leg and pulling her up short, uprights were best. She thought there was nothing like the dyson ball upright for speed either.

My folks (whose cleaner it is) have a Sebo. She was quite enthusiastic about it, as you can just pull out the hose and use it without having to go and connect up. But boy is it HEAVY! I would hate to having to tote it up and down stairs or even over gaps between chairs.

I know I'm not helping here, just giving some practical comments!
(We have a cramped house and the Miele does get stuck, but it's light enough to just lift up and over any obstructions.) Do factor in bag costs though! Miele these days are horrendous (list price tenner for 4) and you'd be best ordering in bulk off the net.

Thank you moonbells, definitely useful. I will definitely miss the speed and niftiness of my dyson ball :( However, it's just not cutting the mustard with these dog hairs!! Thanks again for the advice.
