i started with fly lady at beginning of the month and am wondering what others consider their favourite "cant do it without"products/tools

I bought a cleaning tub, it has three sections, I have my 'products' in the big section, a wet section for cloths, wipes and a toothbrush and a dry section for a duster and tissues. I can't remember what I carry around with me, my brain is frazzled but interested to know what others use :)

oreocrumbs · 10/01/2012 21:26

I'm not on flylady, but my most used products are, WUL, bleach, glass cleaner and soda crystals. I also buy flash or similar kitchen and bathroom sprays and harpic loo cleaner.

I mop my floors with hot soapy water with a splash of bleach, or with biological washing powder. I don't dry dust, I wash all of my surfaces with hot soapy water with a splash of bleach on a tightly wrung out cloth, use harpic loo cleaner, a bathroom spray and soda crystals in the bathrooms. I clean the kitchen and oven with the same hot soapy water and bleach.

I have an assortment of e cloths for damp dusting, and use the kitchen spray on the benches for an everyday wipe over, and do proper cleaning 1 room a day. Need to damp dust and hoover everyday as have lots of pets and DP is a messy bugger.

suzi2 · 10/01/2012 21:55

I have to watch what I use allergy wise, so I love e-cloths. I've been using them for years and have tried numerous other brands and still go back to them. Miele cylinder hoover and Roomba. Light n Easy steam mop (though it's cord is too short). Product wise, I use Dettol M&M remover for the shower, followed by a cream cleaner. Loos I use bleach in the loo and Method multipurpose spray. I also like those toilet duck flushable things - they're pricey but very convenient for when someone has done major skiddies! I use method multipurpose for a lot, when I'm not using plain e-cloths. Soda crystals for doing big cleanups - like the bin and things.

Oh, and I'm not tidy, but I am clean :-)

oreocrumbs · 10/01/2012 22:07

OOh Supadupa I'm very quite excited to try it now!!

I really like that book! Another good one is clean it fast clean it right, thats american but I bought it from the book people in the UK! Should I ever find myself with a garbage disposal I shall know exactly how to clean it Grin

Nothing wrong with cleaning books!

dundeemarmalade · 11/01/2012 19:10

Biological washing powder or liquid (just cheaply unbranded stuff) for minging fatty burnt on pans and grill. Is a-mazing.
don't like smell of most cleaning stuff inc bleach. Only ever use dettox spray (supermarket version), ecover multi-purpose, method tub & tile (Fab for water marks as our water v v v hard), and yucky harpic for loos. And ecloths but from boyes - who also sell stardrops which is v good for sticky kitchen dust.

brighthair · 11/01/2012 20:58

Smart price baby wipes Blush
Gets marks off Walls and skirting board without taking paint off. I whizz over windowsills, table, work surfaces with them
Baby oil - teeny bit on kitchen roll to polish my hob and extractor fan unit

suzi2 · 11/01/2012 22:20

liveinazoo, Cif bathroom foam is ace, but it's put me in hospital with severe asthma attacks twice. It really goes for my lungs!

baubleybobbityhat · 11/01/2012 22:27

I agree about cheap baby wipes. Use them for all sorts of things including dusting things that have gone beyond dusty to sticky in the kitchen and bathroom.

Pledge fluffy dusters for dry dusting.

My absolute favourite product is Ecover multi purpose spray which I use in the kitchen. It has the loveliest natural smell and I don't feel guilty about using it.

I NEVER use bleach. It is so horribly toxic and the smell makes me heave.

liveinazoo · 11/01/2012 22:30

SuzieShock...will be careful when have asthmatics visiting!!!!!!!

countessbabycham · 11/01/2012 22:33

Bleach,
Pledge,
wax polish,
zoflora disinfectant spray,
homemade spray with water, tea tree oil and lavender oil,
flash with febreze,
loo cleaning wipes,
vanish carpet cleaner spray,
chamois leather and old t towel to polish off,
dusters and old cut up t shirts.

peachybums · 13/01/2012 13:43

Wet cloth for damp dusting and e-cloth for buffing
Use same on taps to make shiney
Method multi surface (or whatever it is) to clean kitchen tops, doors, bath, sinks, tiles, tables and whatever else needs a little wipe over, in french lavender.
e-cloths for buffing mirrors, glass tv stand, tv, windows etc
Flash anti bac wipes for the loo, bleach down the loo each night. When limescale gets bad i chuck down a cup of citric acid (that stuff is pur magic on loos) and leave over night
Bicarb and vinegar down kitchen plug hole unblocks and gets rid of manky unwanted smells
Oven pride for oven, although now ive discovered oven liners i find i dont need to use anything that harsh anymore :)

Will def be trying the mould remover for the corner of my bath as leaving kitchen roll soaked in bleach overnight is a pain in the arse and it keeps coming back!

shouldbeelswhere · 13/01/2012 13:50

method granite cleaning stuff, homecare shiny sinks and echo everyone else re dettol anti mould stuff.
