Mould on matresses

We're staying temporarily in rented house and have discovered mould in various places but the most concerning/annoying is that it is on two of our matresses - ours which was an expensive matress meant to last us a long time, and a decent quality single matress so I'm not keen just to chuck them out. There isn't a massive amount and it appears to be mainly on the surface so we have wiped it off with a damp cloth, moved the beds away from the wall and removed storage from under the beds to increase circulation.

Is there any other way to effectively get rid of mould on matresses? We are moving to a more modern house that hopefully is drier, better ventilated and warmer in the next few months.

Are they the memory foam type mattress or standard sprung ones? I have heard that the memory foam ones are prone to this.
Anything you can do to remove the warm damp conditions will help. Do you fold back the bedding to air the bed every morning and open the windows? Also when changing the bedding each week try leaving the bed 'bare' for the day rather than making it up straight away.

the main cause of condensation, damp and mould in UK houses is draping wet washing around the home and over radiators.

Apart from that, increased ventilation will help.

Turning the mattresses over regularly e.g. when you change the sheets might help? Our old foam one went mouldy on the bottom when we didn't do this.
