Defrosting: is it safe to only half do it?

Today we've been defrosting our fridge freezer. It's only a little under the counter one where the freezer is just an ice box but it was looong overdue. I think there is still a fair bit of ice up the back of the ice box, although most of it has gone from inside (I.e it looks done, unless you look closer!). DH is always halfhearted at this kind of thing and he's saying now that he's not doing anymore and is going to turn it back on. Is that ok? I feel funny about defrosted water refreezing in there and dripping onto food. Am i being paranoid or should we persevere and see it thru to the end? (Although that will involve a major argument as DH is losing his rag with it...). Any advice? Thanks Smile.

Sad hopefully it will have reduced the thickness of ice

I believe 3mm of ice is enough to make the machine less efficient

maybe do it again properly when he is out for the day?

you can speed it up by putting plastic (will not scratch) jugs of hot water in the freezer compartment. It really ought to be dried off before filling and turning on again (kitchen roll will do). Any remaining water will just go back into frost.
