Cleaning the grout inbetween bathroom tiles..

Sorry, it's a really boring one!
Ive used bleach & a toothbrush, and some grout cleaner, and it's not made a shred of difference. It's really awful & black.
Does anyone have any wonderful solutions as to how to get it white again?!

Another thing.
Having cleaned your grout, it won't go yucky again for ages if you squeegee the walls after every shower.

Grout whitener. B&Q etc do them. Fabulous. Comes in a tube with a sponge on the end (like shoe polish!) and you just rub on grout, leave to dry & wipe off excess on tiles. Honestly, no effort & half the time of bleaching. I do mine about twice a year.

I second to HG Mould Remover, it's between £5 to £6 and you can get it from Lakeland website, B&Q, most local hardware store too. It works better than Dettol Mould and Mildrew but beware, the HG one is STRONG stuff..... make sure you wear an apron or something as it does bleach your cloth if it comes in contact.

I just spray on my tiles and leaves it to work (make sure to close door and open window as the smell is vile strong! But I can rather air the bathroom for a couple of hours than scrubing the bath tiles! Blush

By the way, it works on mould on white silicon too as I use it on the white silicon around my kitchen sinks Grin

I was recommended the HG range just a couple of months ago and it is fab. Bought it from Lakeland instore and wouldn't use anything else now. Wish I had tried it years ago.

Definitely, the grout pen - I don't mind it being black underneath if I can't see it.

Another vote for the Lakeland brush and spray. I think the spray is the HG one which I've just learned form Yule's post is also available in Homebase. Make sure your windows are open when you do it though. The smell is overpowering.

I tryed Killblock for getting mould and whatever. Absolutely wast of time. Did not kill anything even after leaving it on for hours three times. I used the Evo stick whitener and it seems fine and left it for three days to properly dry out.the only downside to it, is the little sponge comes off qute soon and ended up using an old toothbrush.Just worried it will wash off after having a showerIf it does, I will try the other whitener from Band Q mentioned in one of the threads. I am a bit worried about using the Domestos mould cleaner or anything with bleach, reason being, that I have a colourd bathroom suite and could getbadly stained. I have white plugs in the bathroom that were a real disgrace. Ended
up taking the plugs off the chain and it took 2 full days in diluted bleach to get rid of the mould. I have this terrible crusty limescale around my chrome taps. It is driving me crazy. Any suggestiong to get rid of it?

HG spray rocks.

justkeeponsmiling · 17/05/2014 16:18

HG mould spray is truly magical! I tried most other things suggested here but none of them worked as well as the HG spray. Half an hour and the grouting and silicone were like brand new! It does smell of chlorine though... But worth it, imho!

brioney · 18/05/2014 22:01

Thank you justkeeponsmiling.and also MilestoneMum. HG mould spray seems to be very popular. So will give it a chance.

kippersmum · 19/05/2014 09:29

HG spray is magic in a bottle!! Way better than the Dettol one. Handle with Care though, it is strong stuff.

Selks · 19/05/2014 09:33

Yes to HG spray. It transformed my grotty black mould grout when all else had failed - like totally sparkling within minutes.

Don't bother with grout pens / paint, they just cover it up. The HG stuff WORKS.

One word on the HG spray, it's powerful stuff so ventilate the room well as you do it, and it's quite runny so make sure it doesn't run down onto the floor or anywhere that it could bleach as it has a strong bleaching action.

Selks · 19/05/2014 09:33

You can buy HG grout spray at B&Q also.

SirChenjin · 19/05/2014 09:37

HG Mould spray - the best on the market. Cleans grout and the silicon sealant stuff - just spray it on, leave for an hour or so or until you remember and then rinse off.

Lanabelle · 19/05/2014 09:42

if any of that doesn't work just get cheap grout from B&Q and re grout them

onedogatoddlerandababy · 20/05/2014 14:07

HG mould spray. Just about to attack my bathroom with it now. It stinks but I don't have to mix anything or do any scrubbing. If you get it from Lakeland and think it's crap, they'll refund you. Win win.
