Ideas needed for de-fluffing a throw

Hoping someone might have some ideas. I bought a 50/50 cotton/viscose turquoise throw to go over my cream sofa (getting v grubby thanks to 2 DS under 5 & don't have the time to get the covers in the wash at the mo). Unfortunately, the throw is moulting its fluff all over the sofa (& our clothes) & I've just used a whole lint roller thing getting the fluff off the cushions.

Does anyone have any ideas how to stop the fluff transferring onto everything? It's supposed to be dry clean only but I risked it in the wash on a hand wash cycle but that hasn't worked. Wondering if I need to wash it on a higher wash (& if so how hot) or if anything else would help.

Really like the throw & don't want to have to chuck it but don't think I can stick having to constantly de-fluff us & the sofa.

TIA

You can buy a defuzzer, that might work on the fluff, they are mainly designed for taking the 'bobbly' bits off jumpers.

Or you could try it on a more robust wash. I can't think that cotton/viscose would shrink or distort at a regular temp (40 deg), and so the dry clean only is probably to preserve the finish. Since you don't want to preserve the finish you could try a normal 40 was.

If it is expensive and you don't want to chance spoiling it, could you maybe get a couple of cheap cotton throws from Ikea (I have some off white ones and they wash just fine) and lay them down to protect the sofa, and drape the turquoise one over the back for decoration?

Don't think the de-fuzzer will work cos there's nothing really to see on the throw. It just seems to moult when it touches anything. Will give the 40 deg wash a go & see if that helps 'cos it wasn't too expensive & if that doesn't work, the cotton throws sound like a good idea for the cushions.
