Cheapest/best place to get household cleaning stuff

I need to restock the cupboards, maybe e-cloths, bleach, rubber gloves, microfibre mop, normal mop, kitchen towel etc... Where is the cheapest place to get all this stuff.

I seem to live in a bit of a dark zone where there are no Aldis, Lidls, Wilko's nearby so I will need to make a special trip on Thursday to one shop and stock up. Have got a Lakeland and lots of expensive shops plus a Sainsburys.

B&M is the best place near me, they sell cheaper versions of all the Lakeland type stuff.

Wilkos deliver stuff, they charge for P&P but it can be worth it if you're doing a big shop, or you can collect in store for free.

Poundland is my go-to place for cheap household stuff. 99p stores can be good as well.

Seems there is a Wilko and an Aldi in a town around 30-40mins away. Poundland 15mins away but parking is difficult in that town. Tried getting DH to do Poundland but he came back with the wrong stuff.

Wilkos is brilliant for branded products.

Home Bargains

Pound shops do great cleaning stuff, I have some great e cloth type things from Poundland.

I buy most things from home bargains, B&M etc. For cleaning products I would hang fire for a week or 2 if you can as all the supermarkets will be putting the 'spring clean' special offer isles on and you will get the best prices there I think! I'm waiting to restock, Asda put loads of things on for £1, harpic, domestos, bottles of flash, dettol and good prices on dishwasher stuff and big boxes of washing powder.

Ooh I love buying cleaning products, shame I never get round to using them Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/01/2012 19:02

I use asda smartprice wax furniture polish, multi surface cleaner, sainsburys basics cream cleaner, toilet cleaner, disinfectant, thin bleach for spraying on stains on white clothes, washing powder.

It all works just as well as branded, I always think that if people clean so infrequently that they need cillit bang and flash all the time they can't be that houseproud in the first place.

Agree with Pound shops, they often stock branded products so always worth a look.

We have Savers round here and they are very good for cleaning products and toiletries.

Chestnutx3 · 04/01/2012 09:32

My nearest town has NO pound shops mutter mutter. No Savers nearby, will have to brave Pounland, will have to buy alot to make the petrol costs worthwhile.

No tips on where, but a stunning cheap product is old fashioned soda cristals. An old lady in Tesco recommended it to me, it costs 60p or so, lasts for months, and cuts through eg dried on grease on tiles better than mr muscle ever did! Great for cleaning stove tops too, although needs washing off carefully if it isnt to leave a white powdery mark.

Love that stuff.
