How do you clean them?

Or do you just chuck them away when they look really manky?

I've never cleaned mine either. Am I supposed to?

usualsuspect · 21/12/2011 16:04

I never knew you had to do this Shock

OneHandWrapping · 21/12/2011 16:06

You can get a new one from Poundland. Guess how much for? Why on earth would you clean it?

GrimmaTheNome · 21/12/2011 16:10

I got a new one recently to match new kitchen - I actually did wash it (in sink with fairy) after its first use! Grin

I mostly use a long-handled one - wash that occasionally if the kitchen floor was sticky when I used it.

Dishwasher.

TheMonster · 21/12/2011 16:12

I get a new one. Same as loo brushes. Every time I go to Ikea I get a new one.

wonkylegs · 21/12/2011 16:14

You can clean them!?! Blush

GrimmaTheNome · 21/12/2011 16:28

You can clean them!?!

why not? Cheap ones are just plastic, its not like they are made of some rare water-sensitive substance Grin

buying new ones all the time is ridiculously wasteful. I can sort of see why people might do that with loo brushes but - unless there is something particularly vile about your floors - I can't see why anyone would balk at washing a dustpan and brush. I mean, there's nothing worse goes in there than in a vacuum cleaner is there?

thisisyesterday · 21/12/2011 16:29

i read the thread title and thought "people clean their dustpan and brush???"

lol

mine never really gets that dirty... it's only used for brushing up dry stuff

Selks · 21/12/2011 16:30

It has never actually entered my head to clean my dustpan and brush.

PigletJohn · 21/12/2011 16:42

you only need to slosh them around in the sink with hot water and a bit of Flash or GP cleaner

you can do the same with your broom and mop.

wonkylegs · 21/12/2011 16:47

I didn't mean i replace them I don't ... I have 2 an inside one and a metal outside one and the inside one doesn't get dirty enough to clean, the outside one lives outside and rained on. To actually clean them wouldn't cross my mind. Tbh the inside one rarely gets used bar a glass/crockery breakage.

chipmunksex · 21/12/2011 18:21

Ha

I am not the only one Smile

The thing that always puts me off washing it is drying the bristles-how do people do this?

OP posts:
PigletJohn · 21/12/2011 18:29

if it's an ordinary plastic brush with nylon bristles, it will dry easily. Give it a shake (preferably outside) and hang it up, or put it away (but not in a cupboard) and it will soon air-dry.
