Don't sigh in exasperation, or think I'm a slattern. But how do you clean

wooden floors?

New house has floorboards. I'm used to carpet

If I mop I seem to just be Sploshing grubby water about. Do I have to get down on my knees? And then what, wet a bit, then dry? That seems very labour intensive

Is there something I'm missing? There must ve an easy way

I vacuum first then use what Beebread uses.

wildstrawberryplace · 22/12/2011 23:39

Me too what Beebread said, vacuum then Method cleaner and E-cloth mop.

With E-cloth mop you don't even need a bucket, just pull off the pad and rinse under tap, wring well then stick it back on.

Simples.

E cloth mops are brilliant, although am a bit Shock by Lakeland price, mine was £2.99 from B&M bargains!!

Bonsoir · 27/12/2011 10:16

I have parquet (sealed) throughout and find the best thing is to vacuum very thoroughly get down on my hands and knees with a bucket of dilute floorcleaner and an e-cloth every couple of months for a really thorough clean. You can then vacuum and run a e-cloth mop over them the rest of the time.

I'm just running out of current floor cleaner, where do you buy the Method Stuff please?

Mollymoomoo · 27/12/2011 21:13

Ew e cloth thats what i have...thought it was microfiber! Works well :-)

valiumredhead · 28/12/2011 13:32

Vacum first then use a microfibre e cloth mop which is barely damp, possible a bit of a squirt with wooden floor cleaner. Really need to keep water at a minimum though.

cjbk1 · 28/12/2011 16:11

No need for big spend but a vacuum cleaner squeeze-out able mop and wood floor wash is needed really x

racingheart · 28/12/2011 22:56

Wynken - big supermarkets stock method - Sainsbury's, Waitrose definitely do and I think Tesco does too.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 28/12/2011 22:58

Thank you Racingheart, I shall go and have a look.

Sweep, then mop with a well wrung out mop. I have some amazing orange oil stuff you spray on and then mop off (without rinsing for clean floors) which makes the floors smell wonderful.

Or get a small baby in a fluffy nappy to bumshuffle a lot Grin
