Sticker residue - how do I get it off a cotton top?

DD's top went into the wash with stickers on it, and the residue is now a charming grey colour, and won't come off. Any tips? Thanks

Lakeland sell a Sticky Stuff Remover, which is fantastic. You could try nail polish remover, but I don't know if that would damage the fabric.
