next step in cleaning products when vinegar or e-cloths don't quite hit the mark?

Our 'new' bathroom is now a year old, and has only been cleaned with e-cloths or white vinegar. It now needs a little more than this, but I am wary of products in case they damage the bath surface. We have a little bit of orange mould beginning around the shower and a few spots of black mould, plus some limescale. What is the best, kindest-to-bathrooms product to use? Eco if poss.
Thanks wise mumsnet.

hopeful bump?

is the orange mould on a shower curtain, or a hard surface?

Is the black mould on silicone seal round the bath, or where?

We use bathroom spray cleaners which are good at removing soap and lime remnants from hard surfaces. They do not damage the bath.

Pigletjohn, the orange mould is on a hard surface (tiles/grout) and the black bit is lurking in the corner of the bath on the sealant.
I once used a strong bathroom spray (I think possibly a limescale remover) on the tiles in our last house and it ran down and damaged the finish on the bath, it made it all dull and streaky. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

was it an iron bath? how old?

had you previously kept it free of lime?

linspins · 04/12/2011 17:25

It was a new bath...not sure what it was made of, maybe iron? it wasn't plastic.

new baths are very rarely iron, it might have been enamelled pressed steel. If the cleaner you used was not suitable for enamel the instructions ought to have warned against it. Perhaps it was an acid. The common bathroom cleaning sprays should not damage a bath.
