Kitchen bin where the black sack doesn't show?

Have a fairly basic kitchen bin which is fine - apart from the fact you can always see the top of the black sack flapping out of it, which just looks awful. Can you buy kitchen bins where the sack is concealed? I'm almost certain Brabantia and similar do this, but are you into the paying £££ for both bin and special binbags world then? Would really like to spend less rather than more if possible.

Apologies for the very boring topic and mundane issue, but it's getting on my nerves! Grin

Is it that big an issue?
It's just a bin lol.

I have a metal one that has a separate inner plastic bin if that makes any sense with a handle to lift it out.

I suppose with that type you could fold the bag over the top of the inner bin and you then wouldn't see it from the outside.

It was c from argos by the way but a fair few years ago.

I have a Brabantis and never buy their special bin bags. If I change the bin bags all is nicely hidden away without much effort, if dh changes the binbag he is less careful and we tend to get a bit of a black bag frill around the top.

CoffeeMum · 02/12/2011 07:46

Thanks both! SacreLao - completely agree! Really not a big issue AT ALL, as i said in my OP, totally dull and mundane, but i do look at it every day and think 'ugh', we've had our bin for years, are about to redecorate the kitchen, so now seems a good time to sort those little niggles out.
SeasonsGripings - okay, so Brabantia do solve this problem as i suspected, may have to shop around for similar cheapy versions. Shame though, as they do a nice bin Grin

I think John Lewis do Brabantia lookalikes.

Can't beat a Brabantia though - they have a 10 year guarantee Smile I got my Brabantia bin lid replaced last year FOC cos DS broke it.

valiumredhead · 02/12/2011 12:20

Barbantia has concealed liners. We got our from e bay for about £30. We gat the liners from Tesco.

valiumredhead · 02/12/2011 12:20

Clearly I cannot spell today!

MrsHoolie · 02/12/2011 13:53

I think you get what you pay for. We bought our first Brabantia 50l bin in cream (touch lid). You can't see the bin liner and the bin liners are strong. I buy the bin liners on Amazon as they are cheaper than the supermarket.

LoveInAColdClimate · 02/12/2011 13:58

With my Simple Human bin you can tuck the bag in so it doesn't show. I can highly recommend them, and when the lid broke and I called them to ask if I could buy a new one they sent me a replacement for free practically the next day.

LoveInAColdClimate · 02/12/2011 13:58

Oh, and I just use normal bin bags in it.

Hopstheduck · 02/12/2011 16:19

The thing is though, although the liners are more expensive, they hold a lot more and won't split as soon as you try to take it out. So we can get away with only using two or three bags a fortnight. I usually get the bin liners from amazon too.

The bins can be pricey, debs might be a good place to look, they always have discount codes floating about.

CoffeeMum · 04/12/2011 09:20

Thanks everyone - great ideas here about going on Ebay [brilliant - hadn't thought of that!] and getting sacks off Amazon to save money. Maybe Brabantia will be affordable after all....and can't deny, the ten year guarantee is a big draw with the destructive DC around! Hmm

Thank you for the advice Smile

Simplyhuman fan here too! Worth the money IMO.

putmeashape · 06/12/2011 05:22

Brabantia do hide them, but they are a pain to get out then!

SirCharlieStinkySocks · 06/12/2011 08:31

I have direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-5753.aspx I like it, cheaper than a Brabantia and has an inner rimm which hides the bag niccely and is not a faff to get out. Also as it's semi-circle shape it suits my small kitchen and holds loads

SirCharlieStinkySocks · 06/12/2011 08:32

Blimey I clearly can't spell today!!

RachelHRD · 06/12/2011 13:20

Simplehuman bins are great and we use Asda own brand liners which are the same style but much cheaper.

CoffeeMum · 08/12/2011 06:38

Thanks very much for all your suggestions - i'm going to make a note of all the bins you've recommended. Have become a bit snowed under with sorting out Christmas things, and the budget is suffering a bit Hmm so i think this will be a new year purchase. But i will feel fully equipped to make a bin decision now Grin. Thanks for your help Smile

Yes, Brabantia. I just bought a 30l one for £40 including postage from here.

CoffeeMum · 08/01/2012 14:32

Just to report back, we have bought a Simple Human bin - and it was half price in the New Year sales in BHS. It's brilliant and we love it! Thanks for the tips - had never heard of the brand before, but it's fab Smile

OP posts:
VeryStressedMum · 10/01/2012 19:08

I have the exact same bin as SirCharlieStinkySocks and it's fab £30 or so, it's plastic but doesn't look it all and no finger marks like the shiny stainless steel one I had before, the curved shape means it fits neatly against the wall and it hides the bin bag. I didn't have a bin for ages as I was looking for the right one, and I'm very pleased with it Smile Sound like a bit of a loony about bins.
