milky glasses from the dishwasher - any ideas

When we first moved in, we used the dishwasher as it was (since found out it was v dirty and not enough salt, rinse aid etc ) so some glasses have gone milky. TBH they look rubbish and I would be embarrassed to have them sat on the table at Christmas etc. Does anyone have any tips to make them nice again or is this a lost cause and I should buy some more?

More salt normally sorts them out in time

Wash them up by hand and they should be fine again.

depends on whether it is limescale or etching (etching is permanent and cannot be removed). Try soaking the glass in vinegar and if the cloudiness is removed then it is limescale. If it doesnt come off then it is etching and you would be better off with new glasses.
