There was another AGA thread on here this morning, and it reminded me,

Am about to do my annual buy-an-AGA-item or two fest.

What do you recommend? I don't have an AGA frying pan or any AGA saucepans yet. Which type are the best? Cast iron? Stainless steel?

I have lots of AGA roasting pans and those ceramic trays, so don't need those.

What's your best AGA cookware item?

And does anyone do anything clever with their AGA that I need to know about? If you dry your washing on it, do you just drape it over your AGA (like me) or do you stand a washing frame in front of it?

oooh i dont have much but i like your plan of buying one thing a year- over time end up with the perfect collection! it is the frying pan that i would be most interested in getting. but keen to hear the views of others!

I have the cast iron saucepans - love them! Great for on top of the AGA and then sat on top of each other in the oven. I have the egg frying pan to fry 4 eggs at once - love it.
I hang my wet clothes over the AGA, they dry slowly and iron themselves. Jeans are always folded after drying outside and "ironed" on the warming plate. I have a frame that sits over the cooking area - great for drying woollen clothes!
My fav things... Best buys the lid covers which act as pot holders and protect the lids. Also love my AGA towel, that has poppers holding it on the rail, kids always have a warm towel to dry hands on.
Love love love my AGA!

sob I had to leave mine when I got divorced, don't miss much else but I miss my AGA!!!!!!!

Best thing is you get loads of rising heat so one of these old fashioned hanging racks works beautifully even in a low ceilinged room.

If you haven't already, an AGA toaster and AGA kettle. My logic is that you should use up the heat that is already belting out rather than create extra with extraneous electrical items, so have ditched plug in toaster and kettle in favour of lo-tech AGA ones. (But you probably have them already).

Agree with merrylegs on the AGA toaster and kettle.

The silicone paper to go on the hot plates for frying eggs on, no pan required.

Any of the flat lidded saucepans as they stack in the ovens.

Love the cast iron casserole pot but wish they did one double the size.

Agree with the covers for the lids. Handy for lifting pots that are hot and preventing the lids getting scratched.

Oh, thank you Aga ladies! I have the toaster & kettle and the pot holders. I did have some of that silicone paper and DH someone threw it away thinking it was used greaseproof paper, so will get more. I think the frying pan is probably my biggest want, and then the stacking saucepans. I might wait and see if there is a January sale.

Bossy - the Sheila Maid is exactly what I need! Do you think I can install it directly above the Aga? or is that going to be too low?

Oeuf - what frame is it you have for drying right over the cooking area? Any names/links available?
