Stinky raincoat

Hi,

I need help to remove sweat smell from a raincoat.

It's 100% polyester on the outside and the lining is viscose and AC(?). It's dry-clean only.

It's been twice to the dry-cleaner abut the smell wont go away!

I don't want to throw it away because it's in good condition and because I can't really afford another one.

Any idea of what I might be able to do to remove the smell?

Thanks.

if it's been cleaned, what does it smell of? Fags? Sweat? Mould?

PigletJohn · 26/11/2011 18:49

oops, soory, you said sweat.

Maybe turn it inside out and hang it on the line on a sunny day?

Spray with Febreze?

Thanks for your answers.

I have thought about using a fabric deodoriser, but I do wonder if that's likely to leave a water mark that I won't be able to remove.

I just don't know. I know this is made of polyester, viscose and acryllic (so not silk). But since it says dry-cleaning only (so not washing with water), I wonder if it's wise to spray on it. I wouldn't want to make the problem worse.

I would just wash it - on a low heat....

I'd put it in the machine on a delicate/handwash programme with biological liquid. Don't use fabric conditioner as that will stop it being so waterproof.
