Cash 4 clothes. Any good?

I am having a clear out and have bundles of good quality clothes that I need to get rid of. A leaflet came through the door today advertising 'cash 4 clothes'. Apparently they give you £5 per 10 kilos of unwanted clothes, shoes, bags etc. Just wondered if anybody had used them and if they are worth using?

I used them and found they were extremely picky about the clothes quality - I only got a few kilos at the higher rate, lots more at the lower rate and a few that they didn't pay for. Bit annoying as the best quality ones I could have got more from on ebay but just lumped them in as it was a job lot. Wouldn't use them again to be honest.

Our local one gives 50p/kilo. I usually get around £16 per lean out. Not millions but better than nothing.
When I drop stuff in they just rip the bag to see what sin them, weighs them (rounding up as well!) and pays. Quick and easy!

Wouldn't you get a lot more from selling on ebay? Even if each item only sold for 99p - surely you'd get a lot more money.

Thanks for the suggestion but most of it is stuff like school uniform, old baby blankets etc, I have already put a few decent items on eBay, bidding due to end tonight Grin

Went to my local one this afternoon, and got £3.70 for the bundle. Wasn't expecting a lot, tbh. Still, it's de-cluttered the house a little bit, with extra money in my pocket.

The guy at the shop asked me to tip out all the clothes into a basket and he roughly checked through it, and said to me that some people bring in bags with broken glass (!!) in them scattered through the clothing (I'm guessing to make it weigh more), so he explained why he was checking through it all. He didn't seem to be concerned about the quality of the clothing, for rips/tears, etc.

Overall, I'd say that I was happy with using the company and will do again if I need to quickly get rid of clothing we no longer need, but can be used by someone less fortunate.

I use my local one. They didn't really seem to care what the clothes were as long as they were clean. I also took some old boots down there

They just empty the bag and weigh it and I generally only get about £2-3 as I just take a big carrier bag in when I go into town. Any good stuff like newish Boden etc I would put on Ebay but its fine for just old stuff and my sale mistakes Blush that I used to just chuck in the clothes bank.
