Microwaving a Christmas Pudding

Hi all,
I have just made 2 medium sized Christmas puddings and have decided to microwave them then keep them until Christmas to reheat.
I was wondering if anyone else had done this and how well the puddings kept?
Any advice before I cook them?
Thank you! Smile

I've always been wanred not to microwave Christmas pudding - because of the high sugar/alcohol content they can catch fire. I know you can do them in a pressure cooker, and in a slow cooker although as tehy take hours to boil up I can't see the point of slow cooking Grin

The shop bought ones have instructions for microwaving. I've always microwaved mine (shop bought).

Ahh sorry just reread your post OP, that's just for reheating on Christmas Day. I don't know about cooking them in the microwave.

There are recipes on the internet for microwave puddings and they all seem to include alcohol so it must be OK, otherwise I'll see them in court! Grin

I have reheated them before as well and sometimes they can dry out a little, but I probably didn't do it properly.
Stuff it I'll put one in and see what happens. Could do one in the microwave and one not???...
It takes 10 hours to steam the pudding otherwise!! Shock Jaw hits ground.

Sorry no idea - but I just wanted to add that I am very impressed! If you put a charm in, please don't microwave!

They taste nicer if they are steamed - they dry out in the microwave, but I suppose you can just keep basting it in brandy until The Big Day.

I have microwaved them! Aaargh! Done now!
Can't really taste them because I am supposed to be keeping them for Christmas. For anyone else doing this, make a little pudding as well, for tasting purposes!
Now I am supposed to store them in an airtight container. Do you think I should take them out of the bowls? Any storage tips for them?

Should be ok if you wrap it in greaseproof paper then in tin foil and keep somewhere cool and dark (not the fridge). Pour some brady on twice a week (a few tablespoons should do it) to keep it nice and moist and it should be lovely.
