Full-size Dishwasher Recommendations :D

Dear mums,

Finally managed to convince my DH to 'consider' a full-size dishwasher Wink Yippee!!!

Now just need your kind advice on which brand to go for. Both DH and I like cooking and with a 16 mths DD, her wee bowls, spoons and bottles will go in as well.

I don't mind soaking and/or scraping food off considering I never had a dishwasher before Blush.

The budget is about £300 to £400, might be able to push a little bit more if it's really that good. I will be looking at something more reliable and effective too.

All recommendations are welcome Smile

Meghan

I have a Bosch - can't remember which model as I am at work. It was already in the house when we bought it 8 years ago, so it was second hand. So far it has never let us down. If I was looking to replace it I would get another Bosch. We live in a soft water area BTW.

Thanks for the thread. I forgot to mention, we live in a soft water area as well/Scotland Grin

I used to have a bottom of the range bosch and it was great. Moved house since, and now have a mid range zanussi. I would swap the two in a heartbeat. I want my old bosch back, but until the zanussi dies, can't really justify it.

we have a Bosch Logixx and it is really quiet and washes well. It has a cutlery tray in the top rather than a basket in the bottom which free up more room in the bottom rack. Also live in Scotland

Midoriway, I have heard if you put dishwasher powder into the salt compartment it will break down.

We have a bosch logixx with the cutlery rack at the top too, it's so much better than the basket at the bottom.

You dont need to so pre soak anything, I use the spatuala from my chef to scrape plates with and run it through every cycle.

I think I was on your thread in AIBU, like I said there always go for low running costs because the electric bill will go up in the time you have it.

They come with a water hardness programme too, you look up your water hardness on the water company website and the instruction manual tells you if you need dishwasher salt or not, there are different levels of softness, its not just hard/soft.

We have a Bosch logixx too. It's fab, the cutlery tray is a real plus because it frees up so much space.

Saw on currys website with all sort of 'all singing and all dancing' dishwasher.

Do I need that many programmes on a dishwasher?

Thanks Smile

No. I only use one programme on mine. I think most new electrical products have far too many features. I only use 2 different wash cycles on my washing machine and a fraction of the features on our HDD TV recorder. I think manufactureres stick lots of features on that no-one will use so they can charge more for their product. Cynical, moi?
