Do you put soft toys in washing machine?

I can't believe that none of DS's soft toys indicate in the label if they can be put in washing machine. They are mostly Jellycat brand so nice plush on outside with various stuffings, e.g. A dog with what feels like bean bag type polystyrene balls inside. Also what about things like Freddie firefly (Lamaze) which has various things like shiny wings and plastic attachments? I feel that to get them properly clean they do need more than a sponge. DS chews on them and they really smell!

I chuck everything in the washing machine on a delicate cycle.
So far, everything has come out fine.
In case it doesn't survive: bin it. It was not fit for your dc before washing anyway.

They may be ok if you do them on a delicate cycle. I hate when you have toys that say surface wash only. We have a lot of soft toys from Ikea which are great as they all seem to be machine washable.

No, they're not supposed to be put in the machine Hmm but I do.

What sort of fool designs toys that can't be cleaned properly anyway?

TBH it usually reaches a point were it's either bin or washer before I dare to wash something for the first time. Things get so revolting even if you're careful with them.

I've washed plenty of Jellycat ans Lamaze stuff without problems: I wash one at a time in a pillow case on wool or silk cycle, normal detergent and plenty of fabric softer with a few (clean) tennis balls for added bashing and agitation.

Really if they can't / don't survive the washing machine they aren't fit to live with children.

I tumble dry on cool too (finish off on top of the radiator to be sure) - IME the challenge is more in getting them dry before they get stinky than them surviving the actual washing.

Yes, I do them on a delicate wash but no spin. Then dry overnight in the airing cupboard.
