...how the hell do you get the stains off them?

Have tried;
dettol spray
mr muscle
fairy power spray
Cif

Its a rented house - not my sink!!! - we have found a house and are moving out in 2 weeks and I would like to leave it clean for the next tennants (we have already replaced the manky tap)

Any miracle products I can use safely?

TIA

You could try Milton - I find it good for shifting things that bleach won't.

Pancakeflipper · 17/11/2011 12:53

We had one - oh it was vile. Bleach worked - do it overnight.

Becaroooo · 17/11/2011 13:58

They are hideous arent they???

Will try the milton, thanks!

Bleach

PigletJohn · 17/11/2011 21:55

is it a hard, Asterite sort ofthing? Like reconstituted stone? There is a cleaning product called Barkeepers Friend which has a bleaching and polishing action. I get mine from Robert Dyas.

If it is plain acrylic like a plastic bath, use denture tablets. The cheapest own brand as you will need several, and very hot water.

pigletjohn

Have tried the milton and it hasnt done anything Sad

Its a very cheap and nasty acrylic - quite old too - I would guess 15 years old?

Will try the denture tabs, thanks

Bleach and scrubbing brush?

PigletJohn · 18/11/2011 10:52

if they are black marks from knocking with aluminium pan-bottoms, I don't think anything will get them off except abrasion which rubs the top layer off. I threw out all our aluminium-based pans because of that.

On hard Asterite, not a problem as Barkeepers Friend will do it, and you can rub it in with a green scourer.

If it is just perspex which is quite thin and soft, you can use a cream bathroom cleaner, or toothpaste, but on a rag not a scourer. It will eventially take the shine off though.

If it is tea and coffee stains, the denture tabs will do it fine.

Another vote for Barkeepers Friend, It will get all the stains off.

Becaroooo · 18/11/2011 12:02

I think the marks might be from my oven/baking trays tbh but the sink wasnt very clean when we moved in (bluergh)

I scrub it every night after doing the dishes but it doesnt help. Drainer part is a bit grungy looking too.

Will try toothpaste and denture tabs!

good old fashioned Vim powder with a pan scrubber or fill the sink with water and bubg a load of cheapy bleach in. Old house had an acrylic sink and this was the only thing that worked

Pudden · 18/11/2011 19:59

bung...have strong drink taken which makes spelling a little awry

PoppyDoolally · 18/11/2011 22:46

Oxy action powder. Hot water. Leave overnight.

Wouldnt bleach be a bit dangerous for a sink??

Will it be safe to wash dishes afterwards???

OP posts:
Seona1973 · 19/11/2011 09:37

I use bleach on ours but I have a washing up bowl that sits in the sink so the dishes arent in bleachy water.

relaxingathome · 19/11/2011 09:39

Dishwasher liquid used to work on ours

valiumredhead · 19/11/2011 12:11

LOL @ dangerous for a sink Grin You do rinse it afterwards, I use bleach on our sink every day otherwise it would be a real state.

Becaroooo · 19/11/2011 12:31
Grin I know! Will try the denture tabs first and see what happens......

Any tips for how to/what to use to clean a fridge freezer??? Integrated one at the new house but not sure how old it is etc......

Hot water and bicarb of soda disolved in it - about a TBS?
