do you have a rug??

We do and have always had a rug on it. The rug has got old and worn and I have binned it, but am unsure if I should get another one! Do you find that you can keep the carpet pretty spotless, or do you find a rug is a good idea to field some of the dirt!

No rug on mine. Just hoovered frequently.

have a look at the wear pattern. You might benefit from rugs at the door threshold, and main traffic route or in front of the sofa for feet.

If it is plain cream, wear will show up and spoil the look.

Rugs on main traffic route on beige carpet downstairs.

Gradually replacing with wooden floors because so fed up of cleaning, but wooden floors are cold in teh winter.

Sounds like you've got it covered then

If you have a suspended timber ground floor with a ventilated void underneath, you can insulate between the joists with fibreglass quilt. This needs access either by crawling underneath, or by taking up the old floorboards. It will make a tremendous difference, though.
