Roasting tins.. What you got? I need a new one.

I need a new roasting tin. Gotta be big enough for chicken and roast pots around it. So a decent size required.

I want to be able to make gravy in it which means it has to be suitable to put on my gas hob as well as go in the oven.

Went to my trusted cookshop today and they had a gorgeous Scanpan one but it was £100.00.

I have got some that I "borrowed" from my mum and haven't given back yet (about 4 years later). they must be 20 years old but they are great! I don't think they are a make, but I know they are still sold in proper cooking shops, they are white with a blue edge around them.

Are they the enamel ones? Seen those.. Am tempted by those...

Yes enamel - I couldn't think of the word! I remember my mum having them when I was a kid (a long time ago) they are still like new (they withstand scrubbing with wire wool very well)

And does it do great roast potatoes?

Very good, because you can put them on the hob you can get the fat really hot (i don't cook mine with the meat). You can also brown and Seel the meat in them on the hob, rather than using a pan.
I can't believe I am writing so much about a roasting tin!

Tragic isn't it - Saturday night and talking roasting tins...

They did have some enamel ones in the cookshop. Will return next weekend to look again. Now if you are around next Saturday night.... Wink

I'll pencil next Saturday in for saucepans maybe Grin

Pancakeflipper · 12/11/2011 22:43

Oh yes.. Then perhaps the week after we could talk bread boards and bread bins?

I like my prestige ones

not enamel but really sturdy -I put them on direct heat with no problems at all

and they didn't break the bank so I got a full set lol
