What does a timer do? I have one on my machine.

halcyondays · 13/11/2011 15:22

It takes nearly 2 hours, it is an energy efficient machine and I do an extra rinse because dd2 has eczema. There is a quick wash but I very rarely use it.

2old2beamum · 13/11/2011 15:32

I am under the impression that you need to wash clothes at 40 degrees to destroy faecal matter!

valiumredhead · 13/11/2011 15:52

Good job my quick wash is 40 degrees then! Grin

OhYouBadBadkitten · 14/11/2011 07:18

A timer postphones the wash until you are ready for it to start Valium.

2old - thats what the washing powder does.

I love my new Miele. Yes, it cost an absolute fortune, and it took me a long time to recover from spending so much on a washing machine of all things, but I love it now.

I can do an express wash with a 1400 spin in 20 minutes, and it works really well.

Easycare at 40 degrees with 1200 spin takes 1 hour 29 minutes.

Cottons wash at 40 degress at 1400 spin takes 2 hours 30 minutes.

But the 20 minutes express wash is the one is use everyday.

valiumredhead · 14/11/2011 15:35

It will last you forever Happy - I have had mine for 10 years and the bloke who delivered it told me to expect 25 years out of it - they are built to last! All our white goods are Miele and they are fab and well worth the money.

Depends upon the temperature of the washing machine and its washing cycle will vary. But on my washing machines which have been purchased from the website www.portablewasherdryercombo.com/reviews/basecamp-portable-mini-washing-machine-review/ the hot wash for towels takes about 1 hour and quick wash for delicate takes about 25 minutes. On 30 degrees of lightly soiled wash takes about 50 to 60 minutes. Not only time varies with the type of wash and machine, also varies on winter and summer reason.

Hi, I've just had to replace my Serbia washer dryer of over 16 yrs but only due to broken handle. Quick 40cottin wash took 45 mins this one has just come up with time of 3.5 hrs !!!!!! How is that quick

HandsomeDevil · 18/02/2017 21:23

40 degree easy care claims to be 47 minutes, but in reality is around an hour Entry-level Bosch midway well into its second decade.

BarchesterFlowers · 18/02/2017 21:26

Not sure tbh, I do everything on a 30 wash, either cotton or synthetic and I press the speed wash button which reduces it to 50 mins. I reckon it is double that at least without the speed option.

MotherofA · 18/02/2017 23:40

2 hours for 7kg or 3 hours for 11kg 🙈🙈 waiting for one to finish now ... haha

OhSoggyBiscuit · 20/02/2017 01:55

It took me 2 hours to do a 40 degree colours wash the other day! I can't remember what the make of our washing machine is but it's bloody slow!!

rabbit123 · 20/02/2017 11:01

1hr39 for cottons 40, 1hr58 for cottons 60, 1hr10 for minimum iron 40. Those are the only cycles I use.

Monkeybunkey · 20/02/2017 13:22

Standard 40 degree cottons wash is over 2.5 hours but I have a time saver button which takes it down to just over 1.5 hours. I also have a quick wash programme at either 60 or 30 degrees which is one hour. Hotpoint Aquarius 9kg machine, about a year old.

newbie789 · 20/02/2017 13:28

My beko does
3kg (half load) 1200 spin 24minutes
8kg express 1200 spin 34 minutes

Seems clean enough to me, with 3 adults 2 teenagers I don't have time to hang around for hours!

LowDudgeon · 20/02/2017 13:40

I have a Bosch - about 4 years old. The standard programmes are all 2 hours plus, but it has a button to make them quicker (forget what it's called); a 60 cotton wash is about 1h10 with that & a 40 mixed load about 1h.

It also has a 15-min cycle, but as that only washes for about 3 minutes I only use it when desperate Grin

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 20/02/2017 16:05

I've two Bosch machines, the newer one is the one I use most often, think its over 5 yo

40 cottons = 1 hr
(using the quicker please button). I think without the button it takes well over 2 hrs.

There's a mixed load at 40 which takes 48 mins

Also a quick wash 15 mins which is only used very rarely.

I love the button to reduce time Grin

On my older Bosch (9 yo) we threw out the bulk of the instructions ... I've only just discovered the mixed load at 30 is an hour all the others are much longer (2.5 hrs), no digital reader so have to use kitchen clock.

Chasingsquirrels · 20/02/2017 16:10

Cottons - 2h 46m
Easy care - 1h 50m
Mixed load - 1hr 5m

Bosch - I think we got it last year.

Sgtmajormummy · 20/02/2017 16:22

We got a 7kg Whirlpool 6th Sense Zen 1200 spin washer recently and I'm impressed. All the normal washes take an hour and 60 degree cottons wash takes 2hrs.
There's a 30 minute quick wash and an "Eco" one that takes 4 hours! I expect it agitates the clothes for longer instead of heating the water, but "Ain't nobody got time for that!"
It's one of the quietest models available and not the most expensive. I really think Whirlpool have improved recently but MN gave them a mostly bad review?
We've put it into DS's student let and expect it to take some hammering. Ask me about the lifespan in a year or two...

DianaMemorialJam · 20/02/2017 16:27

Bosch machine

15 minute quick wash
45 minutes mixed wash
2 hours cottons
3 and a half hours Eco wash
1 and a half hours easy care

Millipedewithherfeetup · 20/02/2017 16:45

Candy has a quick 14 min wash, use this for a few blouses etc. It also does a 30 min and 60 min wash, all at 30 degrees, I do not wash anything over the 60 min wash. To be fair, nothing gets dirty, all clothes are washed after every wear, towels changed daily.

OCSockOrphanage · 20/02/2017 17:15

The Bosch 15 minute wash is pretty good for lightly soiled clothing. Mostly I use the 60 minute standard wash or a long hot wash for towels and bed linen. You can select the temperature and have a (restricted) choice of spin speeds and other options in all programmes.

Tulipsinmyvase · 04/03/2017 06:44

My machine has a 40d quick wash which takes 30minutes, it's recommended for a smaller load. I can do 10 children's school shirts and a few other light tops in that.
Then there's the proper 40d wash which lasts 1h 40m and I use that for jeans etc as it spins faster so drying time is reduced. It takes a full 8kg.
There's a quick 60d wash that that's 1hr which I use most often for towels/bedding. And a longer 60d and 90d wash that I rarely use ☺️
