posh trousers how long should they last?

my dh bought some £100 suit trousers a couple of years ago. Traditional tailors, not 'fashion', made of 100% wool. He wears them once or twice a week to work. The fabric has worn gradually around fastenings and one knee has now split (vertically) through wear. Is this reasonable do you think? I tend to think it is but he thinks £100 is an outrageous amount to spend and that they should last longer for that price.

ha - just put my arse through a pair of Joseph trousers (less than 9 months old).

So he's worn them 100 times for £100. I think that is a reasonable cost per wear.

can't wait to tell him how many mners think he's a tightwad Grin he doesn't mind spending money but wants to know he's getting good value. M&S trousers for him next (eww) thought i would find them a turn off but just found out the said previous £100 ones are from a firm set up to supply Eton schoolboys Shock maybe middle england m&s is preferable to that.

My dh wears M&S suits - they have lots of very good wool suits from £100 - £500. His last quite well - he's had a couple of them 7 years and still wears them though I do think they have a touch of shininess from too much dry cleaning.

The thing is it's all about cost per wear - I have bloody dresses for weddings that cost £200 that I've only worn once and think that's a waste.

Conversely I have Autograph at M&S navy leggings that I've worn about 50 times that I initially thought were expensive at £18 - they have been amazing value.
