just done a load of washing and have taken up giving it an extra spin thanx to the wise mn as its getting loads more wet out. anyway my spin now appears not to be working, its seems to be doing all the right moves but everything is soaking wet, really soaking! help!
i put it on another spin and it sounds like water is filling up in the machine, have never noticed it before although have never listened that closely either!
knowing my luck its broken espically this time of year! but thinking positive i am keeping my fingers crossed someone can help me Smile

Is the drum spinning around?

Rosieglow · 07/11/2011 21:52

Have you checked the fluff filter? My old machine used to do this, then I knew it was time to empty the filter - it fills up with fluff & limescale so the water can't drain away. The sound of running water might be it trying to drain rather than fill up IYSWIM.

Have you still got an instruction book to find the filter?

usualsuspect · 07/11/2011 21:53

Can you check the filter?

BrokenBananaTantrum · 07/11/2011 21:53

So you have a soak button? I pressed ours by mistake and it won't spun if it pressed.

BrokenBananaTantrum · 07/11/2011 21:54

do not so.

It sounds like it's not draining. The water that you can hear filling it up is probably the water that is already in there.

If is not emptying it is probably the pump - it could be blocked and that be casued by a bit of change, bra wire etc.

If you want to try to fix yourself and not call out a repair man the following might help

You need to empty the machine of water. The only way you can do that is by pulling the machine out to a back or outside door and laying the waste pipe hose needs to be laid flat out the door. That will drain a lot of the water out. Once that is done you should be able to open the door and take the wet washing out. UNPLUG the machine from the mains before you do anything

Once it is drained tip the machine back and at the front of the machine (underneath) there is normally a pump that has a black hose connected to it (approx 2 inches) . It will have a clip on it, you can use a pair of pliers and squeeze the clip and you should be able then to pull the hose off. You will get some water coming out In that hose you will most likely find a bra wire etc. Remove item(s) and replace hose. Make sure you push the hose right up and put the clip back on the markings from where you took it off.

Whilst you have the machine like that it is probably a good idea to look at the filters (usually at the front) to see if they are clear. When you take the filter out, you may see what looks like fan blades, check for coins etc.

If you dont find anything in either of those places its possible that the pump is fucked

Put it all back together and hopefully all ok

Could be the drain pump not working .....

Mine does this if there is a problem with the pump....

Tigerbomb · 07/11/2011 21:58

p.s. if you check the filter before you have drained it - then be prepared for a very very very wet floor

scabbysnake · 07/11/2011 22:08

wow thanx everyone Smile
yes the drum is spinnig
i'm sure i still have the instructions booklet as have only had the machine 2 nad a half years so can use that to locate the filter.
no i don't have a soak button.
no bra wires as i handwash them but wouldn't be suprised if one of the boys have had a stone or something in their pocket so maybe that.
ok so i need to drain the water first, how do i know if the machine has drained it or not?
thanx again

Do you use colour catchers in your machine?? Something might be blocking the filters in the machine, the valve to open the filter is usually at the bottom on the front of the machine. If you can tip your machine up and put a bucket under the bottom of the filter after you have taken the cap off and the water should drain out of the front and then check inside the filter to find out if anything is blocking it, it could be anything from colour sheets or coins or anything small enough to stop the water draining out of the machine. Good luck, hope that you find a solution soon. If you want to use a colour catcher in your machine you would be advised to put it in a net wash bag and then put it in the machine so it cannot slip down between the rubbers and the front of the drum inside and get into the guts of the machine.

Scabbysnake. Tip your machine back as far as you can so that your floor doesn't end up soaked. My machine did this and I was able to tip it back far enough to get a bucket under the front of the machine and drain the water slowly into that. You should find that if you tip the machine carefully then you can control the flow of water from the front of the machine and hopefully not end up with too much of a mess!! Let us all know how you get on please!!
