Hi, my washer is really on it's last legs now, and it looks like i'll have to get a new one, can anyone recommend a good washer that doesn't cost the earth but is good ( I have 3 dc's so it's never off :) )

Im in the same boat - I'm looking at around the £300 level for a new washing machine. I'm a bit bamboozled by all the terminology and I dont know which are the good / bad makes. Can anyone help?!

I;ve just bought this: Gorenje WA62147 which I'm very impressed with. Massive drum, AA rated and v quiet. I paid less than 400euros in Germany so may be in budget in the UK?

Hi, been looking at washers today and saw this www.comet.co.uk/p/Washing-Machines/buy-CANDY-GODF800-80-Washing-Machine/665576 what do you think ?

We bought the most basic level Bosch we could find some 10 years ago. It's seen us through two teenagers growing up, 3 dogs and a pony (so think hairy rugs), has been brilliant. Bar needing t a few minor bits replacing which DH has been able to do himself, it's been fab.

So my advice would be to buy one of the more expensive brands, but the cheapest and simplest in their range.

I had a Candy one previously which lasted me 8years - three babies worth of reusable nappies and 2 international moves! Cheaper brands don't necessarily mean poorer quality/shorter life!

mine is on order should have been £429 at currys got it for £269 web offer!!

its the HOTPOINT WMF760P A energy rating 7kg drum 1600 rpm

Entry level Bosch. They really do clean well. Only downside with mine was that the cycle length was long - 60 degree white + 2hrs!! (there wasn't really a good quick wash) and once the door was closed you couldn't pause it and open to add in the stuff that you found just after you switched it on!

Great at cleaning though. Have a think what features you need wantandlook at cycle times.

Miele, 10 years now, and managed 3 moves, one overseas. This is not inconsiderable as the drum can get knacked of you don't pack it right.

Still spot on.
