throwing out a load of old tapes (the ones we used to record programmes on). Not sure if they just go in the rubbish bin or if there is a better way of getting rid? Anyone know please?

Freecycle? I put some old music cassettes on and they went - might be someone who will use them?

The stuff that goes on our local Freecycle would make your eyes pop - but one man's junk is another man's treasure I guess.

My local Sainsbury has a recycling pont for videos, tapes, lp's etc.

thanks everyone... will check out our Sainsburys else google for other local recycling points. Not sure I can face the hassle of Freecycle for tapes.

The place in Bristol will take videos if you contact them in advance and turn up on Mon-Fri between 9 and 5 - they charge £30 per 1000 tapes.

There's one in Mansfield that has failed to respond to me or a friend, and all the London places that started accepting tapes have given up.

Lots of people will take a few on Freecycle though - just leave them outside your house for collection. Have to admit I'm tempted to let ds use them as builidng bricks!
