Kenwood Prospero Compact Kitchen Machine V Kmix V Chef Classic

My old food processor has finally died.
I mostly mix cakes, whisk and like mixing mince with spices in so would like a bigger bowel than my previous processor
Was going to get the Kmix as it looks so lovely but this compact food machine comes with a mixer and a liquidiser/and a processor all for a very bargainacious price.
Am very tempted.
Any Kitchen Machine Compact users?

Grin @ bigger bowel!

I like the Chef as has so many uses and attachments, but don't know enough about the others to say whether or not they may be equally useful. I would recommend that you get the most powerful one you can afford and have the space for. Attachments do take up a lot of space and if you store them away out of reach/sight, you end up not using them. Mine lives on my worktop and gets used all the time, when it was put away in cupboard, I would forget to get it out.

I love my Kenwood Chef and have bought a lot of additional attachments though it came with a blender and food processor too. I like the sleek look and is easy to clean, like the retro ones too but as mine was half price bargain at the time, I went for cheapest!
I use it a lot for: - cakes, bread, cookies, pizza, meringues, soups, pancakes, yorkie, blitz breadcrumbs/onions/spices in processor for burgers and sausage rolls, potato peeling (have a rumbler), spice marinade/pastes, raitas and chutneys, whipping cream, butter icing, milkshakes and smoothies.
I have recently got an ice cream making attachment but haven't used it yet.

HTH

Thankyou, very helpful

and yes, bowel

Interestingly I type bowels more at work than bowls, so will blame that

Hmmmm
[thinking but excited at all the choice available]

Aha, I didn't realise the Chef can also have a liquidiser/processor on the top as well
Thanks for that

My Chef has 3 spaces for attachments - 2 on top and one in front as well as the whisk/dough hook bit ifyswim
can use the front one for pasta or sausage maker, top two are for things like blender, spice/coffee mill, juicer, food processor

  • the Kenwood website has more details on Chef and other models.

But i just like the look of the kitchen aid

pengymum · 03/11/2011 10:07

I have the Titanium one Grin
Be careful tho and don't go mad with buying attachments (easily done!)
Use it and see what you need and the space you have first - eg the pasta maker and sausage maker are very tempting but I wouldn't use them enough!
The potato peeler takes up a lot of space but is useful as I can leave it to do potatoes while I do something else.

I use the multimill for grinding dry spices as well as making wet marinades and pastes. Is good as comes with lids and 4 jars that can be used for storage as well as on the Kenwood.

I have purchased Chef Titanium KM010
It comes with glass liquidiser and food processor so will start playing with those to start with.
Have just put microwave in a cupboard with a plug in it to make room for my new toy on the counter when it arrives Smile

I have a Kenwood chef, and like it, but I am quite old fashioned.

They do tend to throw flour about if you are making cakes or crumbles.

Beware of the gadgets, they will mostly stay at the back of the cupboard until you die or move house. That's why there are lots of nearly-new attachments on ebay. I have the blender attachment but a stand-alone blender is more convenient. The tin-opener attachment is just silly.

The potato peeler works by rolling them about on a sort of gritty sandpapery thing, the residue of wet peel is fairly revolting. Have never tried one with carrots or parsnips so not sure how well it would work.

pengymum · 05/11/2011 17:31

Mine came with a cover which stops the flour flying about.

Yes def be careful with attachments. Some are fab but others are just too much faff!
I love my peeler though. I just rinse out the peel, no probs for me!
I find juicers a waste of time though - is far quicker for me to use my reamer for a lemon and I rarely do more than 3 lemons at a time. Buy juice as wouldn't have enough space to store the fruit needed to make own.
