Hi any ideas would be welcome, our cat had an accident on our living room carpet and the wee smell is still there after shampooing, using shake n vac, and even talc! Please help as its foul smelling and I have no more ideas.

Oh dear, I'm not sure there's much you can do tbh. The thing with cat wee is to meticulously soak it out as soon as it happens. That means soaking up as much as possible and then dousing the area with water and soaking that up to nearly dry, maybe 4 or 5 times, to dilute it as much as possible. Only then shampooing. Not sure if that's what you did? Otherwise we have resorted in the past to cutting out and replacing the section of carpet. Sad

I really sympathise as our cat used to do this all the time. In fact this is the fourth house we have lived in with our cats and it is the first one that does not smell of wee somewhere. (Hoping she hasn't just tempted fate).

You need to use bicarbinate of soda.

If the carpet is dry, sprinkle it on and leave for a t least a day before vacuuming.

If it's wet, make a solution of bicarb and water and soak the wee opatch with it. Then do what Kim and Aggy call the 'dance of joy'-lay down a folded towel on top and stamp all over it, with your footprints as close together as you can, over and over again. Keep turning the towel and refolding to get the next dry bit. This is to soak up as much of the water as you can. Leave to dry. If it's still smelly when dry, do the first step.

Strong solution of bio washing powder dissolved in water should help. Or Pets at Home sell something called Simple solution.

you need a product with enzymes to break down the odour molecules. Places that hire out Rug Doctor carpet machines sell urine remover sprays on the stand where the machines are kept. Pet shops should also have something to help. I bought a product from home bargains that is supposed to work on urine but will have to wait until it dries before I know if it has worked!
