my vacuum cleaner has broken beyond repair (a morphy richards) and i need to buy a new one. i have no more than £100 to spend. i have a dog who sheds hair all year round. there are so many around i dont know which to buy but probably thinking of an upright one.

Looking for recommendations please.

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out vacuum cleaners, so here's the best vacuum cleaner 2018 as recommended by Mumsnetters.

Hope this helps! Flowers

Can't recommend one off hand, but i would look out for a pet model if you have a dog.

I've had a look at argos and they have quite a few under £100 including a couple of pet models.Hope that helps.

There was a recent "Which" test on Vacs.

Among the best buys was the Bosch BSGL3126GB Pro Energy at £87 in Electric Shop, £99 in John Lewis (they might do the 2-year guarantee though)

(this was the cheapest best buy, and scored slightly better than the Bosch
BSGL4000GB at £95 in Electric Shop

There were no other best buys below £100

They are both cylinders, the next BB was an upright, AEG Nimble A8605AZ at £119 "typically" but did not score as high as the two Bosch I mentioned

John Lewis is always worth a try.

Most uprights were not as good, but some Miele uprights at £200-£300 scored slightly higher than those two Bosch cylinders.

Don't buy a dyson pet one (Animal?) it is pants. Maybe they don't lose suction as they claim but the have less 'suck' in the first place. Also the spinning brush things get clogged up all the time if anyone in the household has longish hair.
