Are there any of the own-brand, or other cheaper brands I can try?

Currently use the Persil Small and Mighty, which works really well, but is £££. Trying hard to cut cost of supermarket shop.

Lidl own brand (called Formil, iirc) non-bio powder. Great big box of the stuff. And you only need half of what they tell you on the packet - I use about < 30ml and it works fine. If you have hard water use a water softener or soda crystals as well.

Yes to Formil, and Tesco stripey is fine too. I never use the full recommended amount either, half is more than enough for most loads.

I can recommend Aldi own brand bio liquid.

Wilko value or any of the supermarket value/basics liquids have always been fine for me.

Sainsburys non bio here. It works just as well as persil.
Doesn't smell much but I don't mind that and i find the fairy non bio smell a bit too strong.

Tesco and sainsburys own brand liquid is fine. Daisy is noticeably crap.

Do you have a Savers near you? Mine is currently selling those Biiiiiiiiig bottles of Bold Lavendar and Camomile gel stuff for £3.99 - in Tesco theyre the ones that usually cost 8 or 9 quid.

Miele man told me that you never need to use more than a tablespoon of powder. Powder manufacturers tell you to use far more than you need to (for obvious reasons)!

fairy non bio powder in the big 80 wash box. Normally £20 but every couple of months sainsburys sell it for £10.

I second the Aldi or Lidl own brand, they don't add that nice smell but I add a drop of lemon/lavender oil to the ironing water so they smell nice I also keep a hanky with a drop of lavender in the ironing basket and in the hot water storage/airing cupboard.

Formil convert here too. It's brilliant stuff.

The diswasher tablets are as good as finish.

I get a massive one from Costco own brand. Kirkland or something it's called.

I buy the branded powders when they are on offer. Currently using Persil that was half price.

I found own brand owns fine, used to use Tesco non-bio. I now use Persil, always buy it half price, but the only reason is that it seems to be better for dd2's eczema than any other brand. The Persil powder is very good and not too dear if you buy when on offer, a big box for £6 lasts for ages. I think Powders tend to be cheaper than tablets, liquids etc.
