Is there any way I can get rid of it bar sanding it down??

Please? Pretty please?

I've tried water and Flash, nail polish remover, B+Q's 'Sticky Stuff Remover', turpentine substitute, Jif - no joy Sad.

DH says: leave it, claim on house insurance and replace floor Shock! No way. It is only about 2 foot steps worth, probably dragged in by pran wheels, but perfect treadmarks of the soles of my shoes...

Have you tried olive oil or peanut butter? Both work well on sticky labels?

Catsmamma · 05/10/2011 21:57

what about an ice cube....like for chewing gum, make it cold and stiff and chip it off.

and remove all shoes at the door HOUSERULE!

boxoftricks · 05/10/2011 21:58

Adhesive & Tar Solvent available from Screwfix, Olive Oil, White Spirit or Tar Remover from car accessories shop such as Halfords.

This is what was listed as a response in a forum when i did a quick google!

RandomMess · 05/10/2011 21:58

yes DH and did say you would have to be very careful with the Nitromorse, perhaps try just wiping it with a cloth?

KatyMac · 05/10/2011 22:00

My dad has a metal bottle/jar/tub/can of tar remover; but its about 40 yrs old and you can't read the outside of it

PacificDogwood · 05/10/2011 22:01

Oooh, tar remover, inspired, thank you!
Why did I not think of that - so obvious

Yy to shoes off at the door: that's what my kids know to do. Unfortunately, I heave the double buggy in through the patio door into the dining area and hey presto - tar marks. The road in front of our house had been done a few days earlier...
