how does rug doctor work?

am, like another poster wanting to clean a rug, and just want to know more about this recommendation .cheers

You put cleaning fluid and water in a trough at the bottom, and it sprays it out at pressure through either a nozzle if you are doing furnishings, or the bottom if you are doing carpets. It then sucks nearly all the water back up in the way a normal hoover would work.

I found it very good- I didn't do rugs, and only bought the basic fluid, but nothing got damaged. I think you can get specialist fluids for different fabrics though.

It puts soapy water onto the carpet, moves it about a bit with a brush thingy, then sucks it back up. I think.

You put in water with the special soapy stuff, the walk it along the carpet like the slowest hoover in the universe, replacing the water every so often.

If you start a room you must finish because the carpet will be a completely different colour - you can't spot-clean.

I used it to clean all my carpets and it was pretty good. There's a video on the rug doctor website and on you tube have short videos showing you how it all works, they're definitely worth watching!

I used it and it does clean quite well - just be aware that it is quite a wet process though (at least it was when I was doing it) and whatever the rug is on top of will get wet (especially around the edges of the rug).

I found it brilliant and not too wet I love hiring it and doing the whole house it good to have help tho for the emptying and refilling bit (ooo er missus)

No, better than a Vax (or at least the Vax that I have). It has brushes that vibrate, whereas my Vax just squirts a bit of water about. You also wheel the whole machine so it's very stable, instead of just dragging the machine by a hose. My Vax falls over..grrr.

If the carpet gets too wet, then you can run it without the water spraying, just to suck up the excess.

I was affronted by how much crap was floating round in the container when I came to empty it.

dead spiders, cigarette ends, brick dust, toenails, thick mud at the bottom

But if you give it a second clean, the water is hardly dirty at all.

I'm not a fan of the smell of the cleaning solution though
