Things I've put in the washing machine when they are not washable...

I'm sure I'm not the first, but I finally got fed up with sponging our pram - a Mountain something...3 wheeler (got it at the charity shop), so dismantled it as far as possible, and put it all in a thorough wash. Looks great. This includes ripping a few stitches to remove the hood wire rod Grin .

This is after big success with a very precious pink Longchamp bag ( ie I never use it because it looks grubby so easily)... also came up a treat (and leather handles are fine).

Can you give me any other ideas of stuff I'm leaving grubby that I could be giving a right good going over ?!

My uggs have had many a 30* quick wash, as have trainers, pushchair fabrics and hoods.

Yes! to lunch boxes.

They always used to smell of mouldy yoghurt [nice] until I tried a quick 30 degree wash every couple of weeks. Grin

Yes to trainers, uggs and lunch bags. A friend jumped in a swimming pool wearing a ball dress, she hung it in the airing cupboard overnight and it didn't need dry cleaning despite the previously spilled wine down the front.

Also boot bags and school bags. Must try make up bags today.

make up bags- great idea- why didn't I think of that?!
I have washed dry clean only sofa bed cover- was fine after.

Make up bags
Sponge bags
Holiday/beach bags
Posh rubber beaded sandals that were meant to be white
Large fabric luggage bags

Yes, there is a holiday theme here. Same stuff comes out year after year as good as new. Saves a fortune.

I'll try anything that would otherwise get thrown out
Suede handbag (put in pillowcase first as the spin cycle can mark suede)
Uggs stained with oil

Trainers, but only on low temp or else the glue will melt and you get an 8 piece trainer jigsaw... Blush

All the dog toys and balls. Makes a right racket going round.

My friend puts all her ornaments in the dishwasher.

Are the lunch boxes the ones insulated type that are box shape?? Am keen to try, but unwilling to stuff up!
Inspired by this thread, I washed our sofa covers - expensive 10-ish years ago, chocolate microsuede - now just covered in wee.... It worked! I suspect that they faded a little, but I paid £100 to have them professionally cleaned and that didn't really remove the smell. I tried a test piece first and am pretty happy!

Material lunch cooler bag
Shoes, trainers, DD's doodles (many times during potty training)
rugs, toilet mats/bath mats (rubber ones for in bath)
slippers (they stink, so I wash them a lot)
dry clean only curtains from next (on a cool wash with handwash flakes)
wash bag
our cyclone stand-up hoover has a pleated white material filter cylinder that I stick in a pillow case and wash too - comes up lovely
Soft toys, plastic bibs, sofa covers

Basically anything - I would wash the kids in there if I could Grin
