My Dyson just died. What shall I get to replace it?

Any recommendations? I was thinking a Henry as they seem good value but were a household of asthmatics so not sure if it's allergy approved! Hope to get something this weekend to take advantage of Bank Holiday offers.

A Henry. They are just fantastic. I bought one when my Dyson died about four years ago, and i've not had a problem with it at all.

Ours has the filter I think, but none of us have asthma. Maybe someone else has experience of them.

Miele are as good as Dyson, Henry are good but not as good. Hoover not a patch on Miele and Dyson, have tried them all!!
There is nothing better than a brand new hoover to make you want to clean the house!!

How dead is it? Our Dyson went bang, but we called in Dyson service. Came very quickly, set charge (£69) for whatever needed doing. They replaced motor which had blown, but also replaced filter, brush bar etc at the same time. Were very polite, efficient, clean etc. Would recommend.

Did you not like the Dyson? My SIL's Dyson died and she had it reconditioned by Dyson - an engineer came to the house and gave it an overhaul for £70. Might be worth calling them?

I found the Dyson okay, but my DH, who owned a Henry for years, hated it!

The Dyson is 6 years old, and I think it's really quite dead! It started making a funny howling noise and then an awful burning smell at which point it was switched off. My DH then took it into the garage to see what the problem was but when he turned it on it wheezed and that was it! Now it does absolutely nothing but stinks of burning electrics.

My last Dyson died in the same way. TBH for the price you pay, £300 ish, I expect it to last longer than 6 years but in my experience they don't.

Just pay the £60 and they come out and replace all the bits that are broken! There's only the plug that's original on ours! It's service like that, that you pay the £300 for!

I'm thinking about a Miele now but Which recommend Bosch - BSG8PRO1GB Home Professional for best overall. So I might have a look at that. Still not sure whether to get an upright or cylinder. Cylinders seem to come up better at cleaning and for stairs but in some ways it seems easier to whizz around with an upright.
