i do not wash them after every time anyone has a shower etc. (if that makes me gross please don't judge)

where do you leave them after you've showered?
radiator?
hook?
towel rail?

i used to do radiators but then the room get a bit of condensation.
the towel rail is too small for more than 1.

we have something similar to this free standing towel rail.one in each bathroom.
washing towels after each use? wtf!

HoneyPablo · 28/08/2011 09:42

Towel rail or over the side of the bath

RainboweBrite · 28/08/2011 12:50

Either over the bannister or on the boiler in the airing cupboard. I wash them once a week.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 28/08/2011 17:43

Slung over doors works best in summer. DH leaves his either in a crumpled heap on the floor or folded and scrunched onto the radiator (which isn't on at the moment!). Either way, it doesn't dry.

kellestar · 29/08/2011 21:48

We have the teeniest bathroom so no space ro hang our towels. We have a airer that hangs from the ceiling above the bath. We sling our damp towels on it and it's really good at letting the air get in and dry it off. Then I hang them on the back of the door. It's suspended on rope and pulleys up and down. I bought it in a junk shop, but have seen they are back in trend and in lakeland.

Mil tumble drys hers after each use. Which i think is odd. She also used to put them in the dryer for DH to have a warm snuggly towel after his shower. It's not that many years since ge moved out.

EttiKetti · 30/08/2011 05:22

Bannister. Mum throws hers over bedroom door as no bannister

Thumbwitch · 30/08/2011 05:53

used to have a towel rain on the outside door of the airing cupboard in the bathroom and they would be hung there; now I have hooks on the wall and they're hung there. We have a showed in a separate room and there is a hook in there for the towel as well.

OriginalPoster · 30/08/2011 11:08

Sling over door top, shower top, towel rail, hooks, radiatior

Anywhere, really

Cheria · 30/08/2011 11:10

Hook on back of the bathroom door. Who on earth has enough time to wash towels after every use?

Shinyshoes1 · 30/08/2011 11:10

over the bath or towel radiator

Fo0ffyShmoofer · 30/08/2011 11:16

Wash every use Blush

DHs mother only washed them once a week and he contracted ringworm from them so it made me completely paranoid.

Also, even though you've washed your bottom and I'm sure it's squeaky clean the idea that you might dry your face on the bit that previously dried your backside gives me the shudders. BlushBlushBlush

Fo0ffyShmoofer · 30/08/2011 11:17

If it's any help DHs mother always put them over the bannister.

nickelbabe · 30/08/2011 11:26

if they're being used again, they go either on a washing rail or over the side of the bath/shower screen.
(that depends on who's used it - if it's DH they go on the shower screen, if it's me, they go over the washing rail - because I don't dry off in the bathroom)

if they're not being used again, they go in the bath until they're dry enough to be put into the wash basket (ie airing cupboard)

nickelbabe · 30/08/2011 11:28

you need a couple of rails on the back of your door - we had a rail screwed on our bathroom door when I was growing up, and everyone put their towels on there.
we don't have a rail at this house, hence the bath/washing rail scenario

AngelDog · 30/08/2011 21:27

Banisters, the newel post on the 'turn' of the banisters, one on the towel rail (more than one stays damp), and toddler DS's on a hook behind the door. We don't tend to have the towel rail (or radiators in general) on unless the temperatures are seriously arctic.

Thanks for the thread, OP, I'd wondered what other people did.

LawrieMarlow · 30/08/2011 21:31

Either over the bannister or on the towel rail. Never seem to dry as well there (unless heating is on) so more likely over the bannister).

onepieceofcremeegg · 30/08/2011 21:32

We are very lucky in that we have an ensuite so we can spread them round to air/dry.
dcs have a large radiator in their bedroom so theirs hang on radiator airers (regardless of whether heat is on or not) Once the towels are dry I do remove them if the heating is on to allow heat to circulate.
Dh's towel is on the airer in our bedroom radiator. Mine is ensuite towel rail.
I only wash bathtowels every 3 days or so.
Also I dislike leaving them in the main bathroom; all I have in their is 2 handtowels for anyone to use. I have been in bathrooms full of damp towels all drying (and sometimes smelling a bit damp/musty) and it isn't clear which is the handtowel!

Teachermumof3 · 30/08/2011 22:01

Can I just ask how many (approx) towels people have? I see the previous poster's family have their own towels-are these certain colours?? We have two hand towels and 2 bath sheets that match the bathroom, then 4/5 that match the previous bathroon and probably 4 that match the bathroom before that!! The older ones get pulled out (and then don't match ;) ) by the kids and annoy me-maybe I need to cull the towels!

AngelDog · 30/08/2011 22:08

We have 5 bath towels between 2 adults (one each to use, one each to wash & one spare for swimming/emergencies/big spillages). We have 3 hand towels for the kitchen and 3 for the bathroom.

nickelbabe · 31/08/2011 14:13

we've got loads of towels, but they live in the airing cupboard.

we have 1 hand towel in the bathroom, and DH has a towel and I have a towel.

But then we have extra ones as and when needed - like i'll have 2 towels to go swimming, but they'll be washed every time because I'm not convinced of the pool's hygiene standards Grin
