I've never really got on with cleaning ovens. Hate the job.

But we are in the middle of a new kitchen fit at the moment, and next week we get a new cooker, a lovely range one. Can't wait.

I want to keep it clean. We are cooks, so cook alot and it WILL get dirty.

So what I'm asking is how do you keep the inside of an oven clean, and how do you clean the top? I've tried before the clean the burnt on grime/fat off the hob protectors (gas hob, you know what I mean), but just can't get it off.

Help me keep my lovely new oven lovely please!!

You call your local oven cleaner and get them to come and do it Grin

It's the one thing I cba to clean and it is worth every penny to have it done professionally. Looks brand new when finished.

oven mate from Lakeland

Tis easy peasy stuff. Just paint on this gel, leave for a few hours and effortlessly wipe it away after. No smell just gleaming oven - tis magic I tell yah!

Agree with PGTip, I save up loose change for this very purpose .... heaven!

Oven Pride for the inside. For the hob, just keep on top of it and do it as soon as any spills are on it. I use any old kitchen cleaner and leave it on a while to soften.

You get your husband to scrub it.

What, just me then? Grin

Get a silicon mat from Lakeland for the bottom of the oven. It catches all the crud and you can just wash it in soapy water and don't have to clean it so often.

Oven pride changed my attitude to oven cleaning totally. It has made it so easy.

But the trick is to do it monthly so it doesn't get a chance to become horrid. Then it's a five minute job.

ilovedjasondonovan · 02/07/2011 20:40

Thanks everyone - monthly you say, hum. I haven't done the inside of our current one for 4 years (what a scank). Rest of the house is pretty clean, just hate cleaning the oven.

  1. Open Yell.com
  2. Search 'oven cleaning'
  3. Phone and make appointment.
  4. Sit back with a cuppa and a slice of cake whilst person cleans your oven.
  5. Best £50 you will spend all year.

Oven Pride - lots of forces families use it (£3.something from most supermarkets) as we have to achieve army march out standards of cleaning so the oven has to be like a new oven when we've finished.

Oven pride here too. I'm just about to do mine actually. It's been about 6 months a while since I last did mine. I'm wondering if napalm would be a better option.
