Housework - when the hell do you do it?!

Very simple really - I'm conducting my own little survey to find out just when the hell people manage to fit in a bit of good housekeeping!

I totally agree with bibbity's comments about keeping standards to a reasonable limit depending on your circumstances.

I work school hours and my dc are both in school. My standards have definitely slipped. My house now looks tidy and clutter free but it isn't. I clean what gets seen. I think the only time under my bed got cleaned was when I decorated the room!

I quickly wipe down kitchen work tops in the morning, empty the draining board and make my and dds bed. After work then I do the dishes, wipe work tops back down and tidy the crap away. Ie put toys away, puff cushions, school bags away, empty dishwasher sort out washing.
I clean the sink and toilet if I'm in there and its dirty.

The house gets a proper clean once a week where I polish, clean floors, bathroom, Hoover and change beds.

I find the majority of My time is spent putting stuff away as opposed to cleaning. Other stuff I seem to do whenever such as windows, skirting boards.

reading this I feel like the most slovenly human on the planet,I have been so busy this week with more important stuff than housework & have visitors this week, I am going to have to dish out NBC suits for them to come in or attempt to clean one room & keep them locked in there..........more to life than housework & it will still be there when you are 6feet under I say :0

I have a cleaner twice a week to do the "housework" but I do laundry a couple of times a week, and DH and I have a ten minute blitz every evening to tidy away stray toys, stack/unstack dishwasher, put away ironing etc.

I do an hour FlyLady style on a Monday evening, and I save my favourite hour-long podcast to listen to while I do it. That covers vacuuming, dusting, kitchen floor, bins, one bed, mirrors, and magazines.

Then I spend 5 mins on the kitchen every morning while my porridge cooks, and I have 15 mins before leaving for work every morning to make lunch, pack my bag, and tidy up the rest of the house.

FlyLady's sweep around the bathroom every morning doesn't work for us (2 sodding bathrooms and 3 sodding toilets and sinks in a hard water area), so I think I'll have to instigate another half hour of bathroom cleaning once a week.
