Eeeeeek! Have ruined a wooden table with mould.

I have been growing on some veggies in a conservatory on a wooden table. Had them standing on mats on top of a towel. Thought I was carefully watering AND moving the towel around and checking. Obviously I have been utter slacker and having just checked, oh dear.....! Large portion of (beech coloured)wooden table is darker due to moisture and quite a lot has black bits. Mould remover no good. Scraping black bits does remove a bit, but also chunks of table. DH will be delighted. Any ideas????

How about letting it thoroughly dry out and then gently sanding it and re-varnishing?

leave it to dry.

you shouldn't have to sand it, but when it's dry, wash it thoroughly with jeyes fluid and a scourer.

You will probably not get rid of the black colour, but it will then be safe to use.

Thanks, yes will sand the top and re-varnish. Thankfully it was a very cheap table!
