Hiring a cleaner?...Do I need insurance

Have just secured the services of a cleaner. There is no written contract of employment in place. Its on an ad hoc basis.

Do I need to insure myself incase she gets injured whilst working?

Anyone got any experience of this? Hmm

thx

Are you always there when your cleaner is present? If so, I should think the answer is no. If for expample she was hit by a falling slate then that should be covered by your household insurance if she claimed against you. Highly unlikely. I'm not an expert but from past experience I think all you need to do is to inform your insurance company if someone other than your household has access to your property. That is obviously for your protection. If I were you I would post this in legal Interesting question and I understand your need for a difinitive answer. I had a cleaner when I had a proper job but we were friendly beforehand, knew each other quite well and had the luxury of shared confidence of common sense.
