I've just been de-cluttered!

I've just experienced 5 hours of de-cluttering!

Paid a lady come round and help me go thru my cupboards and am feeling really great now. Pulled out lots of random crap from the back of shelves, put things in sensible places, and helped me get all my new baby stuff into order.

Seems ridiculous to spend money on this but I'm really glad I did it as the upheaval of pulling so much stuff out is very stressful if you're not sure how to put it back.

The lady did not have the terrifying efficiency that I was hoping for (like something from a TV show) but was very calm and sensible and was happy to listen to me burble on about why I was struggling to get rid of somethings. She also did a lot of heavy lifting which was so great as I am pg and struggling with backache.

I may well have her back again to do the kitchen!

Sounds tempting! Was it expensive? It takes me years to get rid of some stuff. I have to have several culls before some of it goes.

a bit pricey but worth it if there are jobs that you are just not getting done on yr own. I was doing well getting rid of stuff on my own but I wasn't sorting out and organising very effectively because it takes so long and I have a toddler monopolising my time!

Fantastic Grin

I guess if you were concerned about the cost you could team up with a friend and spend a day sorting out clutter in each others' houses. I know that would be quite an incentive for me to tidy up, even before they arrived Grin

Yes I was supposed to do it with a friend but we ended up just hanging out whenever she was round at mine. I think you need a bit of authority/formality/proper kick up the ass in order to really get a lot done.

This sounds great, well done, and I bet you do feel better.
Did she look at stuff and just ask you what it was for and you just realised , "yeah, its rubbish!"

titferbrains · 27/05/2011 00:21

No not much of that actually, she emptied cupboards and we dicussed what shd go where then she put things away while I sorted thru any crap. She did actually say I was quite organized which was nice !
